3-1 to Pools. Don't know who will score but Thomas will be instrumental in creating all three. Two Mansfield fans will be hospitalised after exploding with rage.

3-1 to Pools.... as long as we don,t score in the first 10 minutes. Don,t care who scores the goals.

Mansfield fans think they've turned into Brazil for some reason:

Great comment about Thomas as well, very mature.

I see Hignett has said there will be no repeat of Thomas' antics from last year.

Shame.

No idea. I can never remember which teams we played, the week after, so you could be right.

But there does seem to be some antaganism towards them.

And it seems to be bringing out the old football hooligan in quite a few.

Ahhhhhh the good old days.

The town of Mansfield is a shitey shit hole. Much the same as Hartlepool, their team has always been shit like ours so there's a natural rivalry.

I remember going to Mansfield as a kid and there being bother, I never knew why but its just how it is between us and them, nothings really changed.

I hope Thomas does better than last year, he did a good job at winding them up but he seemed to be trying too hard to make it happen. Play his natural game and they won't be able to get close.

Can somebody tell me what that goal was really disallowed for? Need to see it on telly if it was offside.

Was it shite!? Lacked a goal, but thought the players did well. Finally have a midfield 3 that looks solid.

Donnelly looks a solid full back, don't think he let a cross past him all game and ok going forward.

Laurent does a hell of a lot of running and seems extremely fit, bit of physicality about him too. Midfield always looks better with Hawkins in there imo and he and Featherstone did well.

Nsiala solid bar one poor header.

Disappointed with Paynter, would be nice to see him attempt to win a header rather than pretending to be fouled every single time, gets a bit tiresome especially when it's obvious the ref ain't falling for it. Poor finish too from our best chance.

Agreed.

Heard a few people on the way out saying that was shite, couldn't be arsed to engage them as they most likely wouldn't understand anyway.

We played well, had a couple of good chances which could/should have been scored. And Mansfield were the least ambitious side I've seen at Pools in a long time, time wasting at 0-0 with 20 minutes left on the clock is embarrassing on there part.

Was impressed by Donnelly, Laurent and Hawkins in particular. Thomas and Allesandra caused problems on occasion, however Paynter was less impressive overall today.

Also thought Laurent was a breath of fresh air, has a good all round game and deserves a run in the team.

Some people must be easily pleased.

Thought it was slow paced today, few players capable of much better but positive is a clean sheet. We need to sort home form desperately though

Agree with this, best player for me yesterday. Also wound two of their players up by telling Alessandra to give the ball back to them in the corner at the end rather than just passing it to the keeper.

Paynter just looks as stiff as an ironing board and has all the mobility of a super tanker.... disappointed to say it, but I'm surprised he was on the pitch so long.

Similarly with Alessandra who looked really sharp for a 20 min spell in the 1st half then went missing. Bit of a theme so far for him.

I suppose the sub of Magnay limited the chance for positive changes but game was crying out for an injection of some energy and direction which presumably is what Fewster and Herdman were brought in for.

At least we looked a lot more solid at the back and like a number of others I was happy to see Laurent put in s decent shift too. Could be a proper player that one.
