Tries his best but how's was retained at the end of the season I've no idea. If magnay is out for a month or two I'd like to see donnely given a chance next week. Bates also appalling today, you know your slow when Jon stead out paces you. Harrison can't be too far off a return either. Toto, Carson and Allesandra excellent.

Strange to point out the defence when our centre mid's were non existant today, Woods/Featherstone in a midfield two doesn't work, they were like a pair of ghost's when their centre half ran through to setup the winner.

Totally agree - Featherstone was poor generally but I just don't get him and Woods in the same midfield...

Absolutely in a 2 doesn't work. Hignett taking an the easy option as doesn't want to leave either out.

Midfield was the biggest issue today but Richards is Northern League standard at best, should have never been kept on.

Bates had a decent game. Our none existent midfield invited pressure on the centre backs all game. The second goal was highlighted that it was fucking ridiculous that we let a lumbering centre back look like Alan Hansen as he strode tight through the middle of the pitch like it was a game of 5 a side

Neither Woods or Featherstone are good enough. Featherstone never tackles, Woods can't shoot. They are both decent players but as a two in a 4-4-2 neither does the job you want.

At the end of the day we still have weaknesses all over the park, what I do hope is that Hignett will continue to strengthen the team in the area's required, particularly because we look so open at the back when the oppo' runs at us. Whether that's due to a lack of pace or simply because we don't have players who like to mix it physically, or both, or because we still need that nasty bast..d in the middle we lack?

I don't think we are that weak all over the park we just need a Wiile Boland/ Mark Tinkler/ Tommy Widdrington in the middle of it. You didn't see our two centre midfielders on the ball until Hawkins came on at 2-1 and I don't think he played well we just had an extra body in there. We'll be no better than lower mid table unless we find that elusive dominant centre mid.
