so the idea of a big friendly to help generate cash for the lower league clubs can now be streamed online. I bet the thousand or so mackems that would have come will now stay at home. What a wonderful idea.

Sunderland have sold out their allocation, I reckon we'll still get a decent crowd.

Do you mean the sunderland fans who have already sold 3500 tickets they have completely sold out the millhouse and are now also able to pay on the gate for the rink end.

Might be something to do with the game being on tommorow night.

Let's be fair, this is Sunderland's first team with one of the best strikers in the league up front.

I think we're keeping the ball well, just struggling getting through up front.

To be fair, the first half we played a premier 1st team. I thought we passed the ball around ok particularly up to when they scored the first goal which was a defensive mistake. The second and third were down to featherstone loosing the ball in our half. Overall I wasn't too disappointed, after all this was only our second competitive game together. Having said that I thought Thomas, when he came on put 4 tasty crosses in only to be put out for corners

I thought he was the only one of the new signings to look promising. Not great but promising. He got skinned by one of the best forwards in the PL, he won't be playing against players like him in our league. Laurent looked good too.

Only caught last 13 mins after my own training session finished I was flabbergasted how we could not keep possession at one stage Bartlett could not even it throw out accurately and no simple triangles to passes and retain the ball from midfield. Is it we sign one of Donnelly or Harrison? Harrison has more experience !

But Donnelly looks comfortable on the ball.

You must have pickled onions for eyes then!

Although to be fair, he looked better when they switched him to middle right and CF had given him some advice at the water break.

I only saw it in patches, as I kept turning it off due to not being able to cope with that one eyed commentary.

But from what I saw, we looked comfortable with the ball, without going anywhere, but couldnt defend or look like creating much.

A good workout though, and I am sure Gilbert will have learned a lot.

He looked big and strong with decent pace.

If you could understand the quality of the touch and movement that he was up against then you would be able to comprehend why he looked like he could have the potential to do well in League 2.

I thought that he was definitely worth another look from the limited time that he got.

I'm guessing that Harrison is being kept around incase hignett can't find anything better. If a better player comes along then I think Harrison will be scattered.

Harrison looked to be carrying too much 'surplus' to me, he was tugging on his shorts after every run as they were too tight.

It was a novelty being able to watch a Pools friendly on TV but after 10 minutes I muted the chat and put some music on.

Sunderland First XI were very clinical with their chances. It was a bit disappointing that we didn't get one back second half against their Academy side, but I don't understand the urge some people have to criticize individual Pools' players so early in pre-season.

Season predictions should not be based on how we do in pre-season friendlies. It was a hot night against a full strength premiership side off the back of a trip to tenerife.

You know when you see someone and they stick out as not being up to the standard you expect and you say " I hope Toto gets his act together", not really a criticism, more of a wish it will happen, don`t get all PJ on me MDKMF :naughty:

Anyone who predicts things based on a friendly wants fucking shooting.

says the man who predicted Alan Power would be a world beater back on his debut in a friendly in 2008

the Scunthorpe game should give us a better idea if we can move the ball about with a bit of purpose and trying to make things happen. Thomas looked good as always. Will like to see Thomas and Amond given a go and Deverdics in CM with Hawkins or Walker (if he's fit, how come he didn't play last night?)

Sunderland point of view... Bit harsh like.

I read a bit of that last night arrogant pricks, I suppose when you're used to being one of the worst teams at the level you play it's nice to be able to give it the big one after a daft kick about against a team three divisions below you.

We had played one game two weeks ago, it's was always going to be a tough one.

Smug buggers. Hope Rotherham turn them over.

It's only pre-season, see how their "youngsters" get on in a competitive match against lower league opposition in that EFL cup travesty.

For that matter, I would love Pools to get Sunderland again in the FA Cup.
