Good player but I prefer Magnay at right back. He can't play on the wing to save his life and won't want to be on the bench.

Good luck to him if true

That's a shame if he has gone.

Magnay can be really negative at times turning back in promising positions but he is more sound defensively. If Ducky was better defensively he'd have been one of the first name on the team sheet but if he thinks he can do better then good luck to the lad

Too injury prone Duckworth last two years or so. Was a great signing but maybe time we found better.

After the way things panned out last season, Hignett isn't in a position to guarantee Duckworth a first team place. Good attacking fullback when fit, but he completely blew his opportunity to show that he could play wide in midfield.

If he's got a chance to go to Fleetwood in League One, sounds like a good move and all the best to him.

I like Duckworth, he is a trier. But 18 appearances in all competitions last season, I don't think he will be missed being honest. Good luck to him if he has managed to secure playing in league 1.

Each to their own and all that but I am genuinely surprised by the comments.....for me he's a quality player who we really should be doing our best to keep. What is he? 24ish? I reckon which the right coaching etc he could play at a higher level, certainly League One if not the Championship eventually.

He's much better than Magnay going forward but maybe not as good defensively.

Would be a loss if he left.

He's had two really stop start seasons with injury after an excellent first one. We've offered him a deal and it looks like he's going elsewhere which is little surprise if he's going to be a second choice right back. He's not and never will be a midfield player so if Hignett sees Magnay as first choice I'm not sure we should be breaking the bank to keep someone who only played a handful of games last season. I like him like others said but considering the above it's not surprising he's looking elsewhere.

Really, that's not what I heard. Apparently he saw Matthew Bates turtle neck jumper and he asked his agent to find him a new club.

I cast my mind back to when he was regularly putting in man of the match performances for us and coming off the pitch completely fucked. I thought then he'd eventually end up in a higher division. A good player but I'd rather we focus on strengthening other areas, which Hignett already has started doing. Good luck to him.

Completely agree, can only assume its down to Hignett not seeing him at his best.

Funnily enough the people saying he is injury prone and cant defend, seem to be overlooking the fact he got injured last season making one of the best tackles ever seen at The Vic.

The fact he is potentially going to a club for more money in a higher Division suggests someone else thinks he is a better all round right back than Magnay, who missed his fair share of games last season.

Hignett has probably seen him at his best him and Cooper signed him and he did very well pretty much straight away.

I think the comments about his defending are a bit wide of the mark I think he improved defensively a lot and was/is certainly one of our most committed defenders. I think his problems started and form suffered a bit when Moore tried to discourage him from crossing the half way line and be an out and right back. Maybe one or two comments chipped away at his confidence. Then we signed Magnay, I actually think Duckworth had been our best player for a number of weeks before his injury then when he got back and Magnay was established in his position. Hignett tried to accommodate him in midfield which he's always looked a fish out of water in. I'll be disappointed to see him leave on a free transfer but can see how it's came about, at end of the day he is choosing to leave.

Be sorry to see him go but I think id also pick Magnay ahead of him. I think with Hignetts system of 3 up top that old fashioned type full backs are required.

Explains why Richards was kept on anyway.
