200 gone in the first week - not exactly flying out.

A bit of positive news would be a big stimulus but so far there's not a sniff of a new signing on the horizon and Hignett's 'deadline' to Woods and Duckworth to accept their deals to stay at Pools is up tomorrow!

(Hoping this will have the same instant effect as the Colonel saying there's nowt happening at the cricket - but in a good way)

U cant blame fans hanging back.
A lot of sales last year were on the back of the great escape and that what happened in 89/90 season would be replicated.

Im sure the discount deadline is 4 weeks earlier this season so obviously a lot of fans waiting for some positive transfer activity bfor commiting ther loyalty yet again!

I cant see the point of shelling out in May when I can pay in July. Money may as well be in my bank account as theirs like.

The early bird finishes in June, you have cash to burn that could be put to use on poncy socks :o

I wonder why the early bird finishes so early this year? I wouldn't think we would sell many when the prices go up so cant see much point doing it. 6 weeks to sell another 3300 or so to get up to last years total is going to take some doing after the finish to the season we had. Going to have to sign players quickly and of good quality to get anywhere close.

They should scrap the early bird system all together, what benefit does it bring to the club? Prices should remain the same right up until day before the season starts. If season ticket holders want to retain their seat then give them a date they have to do it by.

They do have a date to retain their seat dont they? I cant see anyway it would benefit us by having this price raised on July 1. Unless a club desperately need money in by July what's the point? Its just going to limit how many buy them.

Am I going daft here? People are actually complaining because the club gives a discount for buying early. Would you want them to just get rid of this? The point of the discount is obvious; the club has ongoing costs in the summer, with no obvious income. Without an incentive to buy early, why would you do so. As chip says, if you've got the money, it's better off in your account than the clubs.

I read it that some were moaning at other fans for them not buying early enough. Like they were being disrespectful for not byuing soon enough. A bit like fetish bob a few years ago.

I seen them in King Johns last week, they had their old season ticket in a carrier bag.

Maybe if they opened on a Saturday they'd shift more sooner. Maybe they don't do that cos they're not that bothered if you buy in May or June so long as you end up getting one.

Sales gone thru the 500 mark.
But for anutha 2700 to renew in the next 4 weeks bfor the early bird expires we need 4/5 decent signings not sales patter coming from the club n players about how loyal the fans are!

They were 35% up on the time they went through 500 last year and the figures don't include the Zebra Finance sales. People flapping when there's nothing to flap about, I love pre season.

Someone asked on twitter and they said they're planning on some Saturday openings before the deadline. Admittedly the early bird deadline is a lot earlier this season, 1st July this season as opposed to the 31th July last

If you can get to the ticket office I would rather than buying online just to avoid the £5 booking fee and £2 postage but it still gives those who can't get there another option.

There bound to be 35% up because people only have another 4 weeks to get them. They certainly won't be 35 % up in a couple of weeks time.

The only thing I'd be a bit worried about regarding the numbers is the volume that still haven't bought and the number of selling days left.

If you assume 2500+ need to be sold and that there are 22 selling days left, that puts a fair bit of pressure on staff in the ticket office if you assume the vast majority will want to buy from the ground rather than over the phone to avoid the fees.

However even if everyone decided to go down there in an orderly fashion spread evenly over the month, you are still looking at 100+ sales per day.

They wont of course, as I pointed out above, boatloads will wait till the last week, and the staff will be faced with queues up the street in the last week of June. It will certainly test the new ticketing system, because even 200 applications in a day still equates to processing a sale every 4 or 5 minutes over a 6 or 7 hour period, which they have seriously struggled with in the past.

If you want to avoid standing in a queue for an hour like last season I'd suggest getting them in the next week or two.

We have online sales which we didn`t have last year, surely people will use that instead of queueing sctatchinghead

If sales aren't at a decent level by the 1st July, I reckon the club will simply extend the deal.

As has been said, a bit of transfer activity wouldn't go amiss - it's almost a month since the season finished and so far there's been 3 teenagers brought in and a couple of contracts extended.

Admittedly there's not a huge amount happening with other clubs but a few in League Two are getting their business done early.

Grand to know that the squad are off to Tenerife for a week's training camp - that'll be cheaper do than it sounds unless a few more bodies come in before 10th July!

Any whispers around the town about what's happening with the contract negotiations with Woods, Duckworth, Bingham?
