Brilliant news that, hopefully they'll be selling off all the merchandise cheap as well.

I reckon they should just bring back the triangular hart one done by Snowy.

This exactly.

Can someone please explain why a club badge is at all importnat to you. Or why it even reigsters?

I can think of millions of things about the football club you support that are much higher on the priority list.

Because I always thought the ship's wheel was shit when they introduced it. It's a bit of fun at the end of the day.

If they adopt my proposal which features a stag with Sir Richie's face being beaten on the arse by a a well endowed monkey who is sitting on its back we WILL be promoted. Fact.

Represents a new era after Uncle Ken. The wheel one was drawn by a primary school child, we need a decent one that looks professional.

Well lets see how much we have when the new badge gets released and about half the fans hate it, and go beserk on the boards. Infact I would say its already started.

Of course when they do go beserk, thats when it gets funny.

Have you decided which way to go berserk yet? It could end up like the EU vote if we're lucky. Should have a referendum of Pools fans.

We NEED it do we?

Why? Will it get us more points? Will it attract better players?

Please explain why we NEED one.

Look at Leicester, they had a shit silhouette of a Fox for years and won nowt. Changed it to a smart Fox head and they win the league.

It's a bit of fun. Fun is a GOOD thing. It certainly won't STOP us signing any players.

Im confused? Is Sir Richie on the stag, or is it the monkey sat atop said beast? In which case the monkey is thwapping the face of Sir Riccy from quite some height. Or is the monkey on Sir Richards back, in either case that is one heavily endowed simean. And it just Sir Dicks face, ie head - no body. Just his decapitated head? Being slapped by a massive simean cock?

Can't see any issues with that - seems to meet all criteria once the details are ironed out.

I can think of plenty of other badges that are worse than ours, quite a few of them are new designs as well. Most new badges tend to be more simplistic 'for the internet' or so clubs seem to say which our current one is. I understand the idea of it representing a new era but it doesn't bother me, I'm fine with what we have and wouldn't have thought it a priority at this stage.

They're saying it has to include 'the towns club' and we'll get to vote on a shortlist so it just depends if people come up with something good.

Mr Colonel, read the article again. The competition is open to all ages and abilities. If say a young kid wins, they will tell all their mates at school and may escalate bringing new fans to the club. The kids who don't win will still be proud of their effort. Can only be a positive bringing in the next generation.

I think it should be Sir Ritchie Humphreys riding on Battlecat.

If it's easy for kids to draw it on their schoolbooks then that will be even better. The current one is far too fiddly.

How about a montage of famous things/people? Andy Capp jawing their lass outside a pub on the Headland, set against a background of John Darwin paddling into the sunset, the Warrior with Lawrence half way up the rigging being chased by Jeff Stelling, and that bloke who shagged a horse reading the opening hours on Verril's Windows.

Could have a four windowed shield depicting all of those things, Humphreys riding battlecat above it and an advert for Loons below in Latin.

Fair enough, I should have used some commas but it is simple enough really. You have a stag but with a beetrooty human face. On the stag's back you've got a jockey that is actually a big cocked monkey. The monkey is whacking the stag's arse to make it go faster but it is using its hands to slap the stag. The monkey's cock is purely ornamental as far as the badge design is concerned and suggesting that he'd be waving it in Sir Ritchie's face is an insult to the monkey who has much better taste.

Anyway, I like Nottingham's idea now. If he can just work the monkey's cock in there somewhere he'll be getting my vote. Maybe Andy could be brandishing it at Flo?

I see you've never heard of multitasking, Mon Colonel.

How do our Yakker friends feel about keeping "The Town's Club" on the badge? I don't mind it myself but it seems a bit harsh on anyone not from the town.
As for the design, yeah, I'd like a change.
Oh, and there is no earthly reason the badge especially needs be blue and white, and it definitely should not a parody of the strip like some badges, for example QPR's.

I don't think any other club has a sex toy or a man in a Jimmy Savile wig on their badge so it would differentiate our product. Maybe not in a good way but we can't afford to be samey.

If the club and you all really need a new badge, it would be criminal if it didnt have this as the centre piece.

I genuinely had no idea that's what Mellish looked like. I should do really with him being our longest serving player.

Life membership for Hartlepool United Supporters Facebook page  bbolt

Seriously the way some people are going on about this is comedy gold. My favourite comment is along the lines of 'the club should be concentrating on signing players' FFS can they only do one thing at once?

For what it's worth I don't really see what all the fuss is about, it's not as if we've had the same badge for 108 years is it? We've changed the badge frequently. You could probably use the badges to define historical periods in clubs past. This one you'd mainly associate with the IOR years, the one before Gary Gibson, I suppose we're in a new era now so I see no harm in a new badge. One thing is for sure though I'm sure Craig Hignett or anyone who has anything to do with recruiting players won't be distracted by or have anything to do with this

Dont be ridiculous.

The club cant affors to be giving executive boxes away for free..

Its one of their most important income streams.

I think a place on the board is more appropriate.

As regards a new badge. The object is to create a simple logo you associate with the club. The VW, Mercedes logo or Audi logo are all simple symbols easily drawn by anyone you automatically relate to the 'product'
Forest were the first team in my opinion to produce a simple but effective club badge that you associate with the club.
Forget the arty fatty smart arse badges. Sunderland got rid of their old logo which defined the place but replaced it with a Chav lottery winners coat of arms in my opinion.
Keep it simple enough for a five year old to draw, that's the trick and keep it.
