A true talent. Enjoyed most everything she wrote, especially Dinnerladies.

I didn't even know til I turned the 6 o'clock news on.

She didn't always tickle my funny bone (the two soups sketch did like) but 62 is really no age for a woman to go.

I think she was probably a lot funnier than the persona she was moulded into. It's hard to remember that there were virtually no female comics until quite recently.

I would imagine celebrities the world over are currently trying to lose that tag.

Very funny lady, Dinnerladies had some fantastic lines and the casting was brilliant especially Julie Walters as Bren's mother. She always had a warmth to her humour, never vindictive or nasty.

Loved Acorn antiques, she was ok and there were some funnies, " I went to one of them parties where you throw your keys on a table, I don`t know who got my moped but I drove that Peugeot 206 for years"

Bang on. I don't get this blokish "there's no funny women comedians" shit, there's always been loads. Victoria Woods' flair for dialogue was unmatched, she must have had ears like radar in the bus queue!. She often gave her best lines/roles to others, quite rightly with Julie Walters who made "Mrs Overall" and "Two Soups" unforgettable gems.

I agree. The failure to find women funny, I suspect, is down to a lack of empathy and an inability to look at the world from a different perspective.

I suppose if you really don't find a comedian funny, then that's that.
But there are a lot of preconceptions, with some people, about what they're going to let themselves laugh at, and what not. The 'blokish' thing Bossa mentions is just a decision not to give wimmen credit for being entertaining. Real men don't do it........
