Surely that's easily got around legally?

How can a council charge people for running in a public park? Just make arrangement informal. I'm sure they can't stop people running in a public place. Are they going to charge all the toddlers running to the swings or kids running about kicking a footy?

Fucking idiots, the only surprise here is that it isn't our council.

Whatever happened to the idea that we pay our taxes to fund collective goods, whether or not we actually use them?

I couldn't believe this story when I read it. Especially the part when the payment is needed to pay for the damage to the paths etc. WTF, next are the council going to charge joggers everyday? What about the people that will travel to the event to compete and or support, spending money in the local economy, lunch snacks, drinks etc. Truly unbelievable.

Everyone should just stop paying their council tax. Put the feckers out of a job!

The free market doesn't like the word collective. These days we pay our taxes to support the profit motive through the privatisation of eveything. Down with services, up with businesses!

How about privatising the parks? Get a better class of runner in, who won't mind paying for the exclusivity. And if that doesn't work, put houses on them.

If any proof were needed that politicians of any ilk, be it international or parochial, are a burden on the human race, here be it.
