"It's a real learning curve, a lot of them haven't been coached before" Hignett's comments in Northern Echo today. Also points out that we are a young team, and kids do need coaching they don't have the experience of seasoned pro's. Certainly accounts for players going backwards in terms of quality, what happened during training prior to Hignett coming in? Will this get Brad Walker back on track?

Read this statement myself its absolutely unbelivable that this is a professional league club that he's talking about

Hignett won't be on Ronnie Moore's Christmas Card list after those comments. Obviously Sam Colin's won't be happy as he was Assistant to Moore, sounds like Hignett never even discussed the players with Collins, can't see him sticking about for long if he can get another job.
Maybe Moore was trying to do a Brian Clough, Clough never did tactics, Taylor signed the players and Clough picked the team, just said go out there and play football, not sure it would work nowadays though.

Higgys gunna be the man to finally end this so called excepted losing culture that has gone on for way to long.
Sure there was an open job offer from Hull City years ago for Collins to coach the kids there.Probably his next job.

Anyway I can see Higgy building a decent team for us next season when he scatters a fair few of the out of contract players and maybe gets a bit of that left over tv dosh..
More than confident that he can keep us up and get us back to the good old days of winning mote games than we lose.

Anyone watch that 'inside Pools' video earlier this year on Pools Player? They basically followed the team from getting on the bus (can't remember who we were playing, but the team stopped off at Peterborough for a training session), to the hotel, through training, to the match and back home again.

The training part was truly embarrassing. Ronnie just wandered about stood next to the physio and kit man, not saying a word. Collins was doing all of the training. They showed the bit where they were trying out their game plan for the following days game. They lined up a centre mid, Paynter upfront and the two wingers. The instruction was 'get it into Billy, Billy you pass it out wide then get into the box'. Truly awful, it's what you would coach an under 9's team to do.

I am just surprised some seem surprised that things were actually this bad.

It was bloody obvious for ages.

And its likely to not change until the decision making, about who gets what job, is taken off a certain common denominator, and given to Hignett.

Their was a rumour doing the rounds in December that magnay was unhappy at the club. Apparently had said training was a joke and players where more interested where their next pint was going to be than winning games.

I like to get in and watch the pre match training....the body language and fact that it just never changed told me all I needed to know.
