A word of warning for those who record the Football League Show.

Channel 5 have decided to concentrate on The Championship and have now created two separate programmes.

One will be called The Championship, which will last an hour. They are also piloting a "Goal Rush" show, which will last half an hour and will feature the goals from Leagues 1 and 2.

Rumours on another football forum suggest this is the beginning of the end for Leagues 1 and 2 highlights.

It's been a panshite anyway. Utterly unwatchable most weeks.

At least they've ditched the audience format thingy. Only took them 5 months to realise it wasn't working.

I thought the idea of the audience was good, it was just very badly implemented. The idea of real league football fans sounded great. I thought we might hear properly about different clubs, their players etc. We didn't, they shoved out the same cliché tropes. 'oh, if we win a couple of games and the players get confidence' blah blah blah.
I wanted insight into clubs, real reaction, strengths, weaknesses, how their clubs deal with finances. Anything that gets a feel for other clubs, what they're about. None of that happened. They did it badly so we are back to whomever watched about a minute of highlights to say 'so and so has done well because he scored x amount of goals.'
Rubbish. Boring uninteresting. Watch the goals, done.

Salford became media darlings because of the real life insight into how the club worked. Granted the show was commissioned because of the stars involved but it became compelling because of the real life footballing issues.

If H'angus was filmed for a season you could get at absolute minimum a decent 45 minute comedy show!

League Football would be better reality TV than actual reality TV, just no-one has got to grips with that.
While I really wasn't a fan of 'Clem' his bit was the best part of the BBC show. At least you would hear about a club, he would talk to a chairman, maybe some mascots, learn something about a club. Much better than Steve Claridge explaining that if team x can keep some clean sheets they can solidify their position......

DULL.

I can't argue all of that would make for a good show. But with a 1 hour n 30 min slot n 72 football league clubs to cover that would be impossible.

The presenters don`t help, Kelly is dull and awkward, failed attempt at eye candy like Sky, now if it was Kirsty Gallagher

It is just a very awkward show, there is no personality in it at all. When they have guests I don't think any have been associated with a club north of London.
