Stewart Talbot Talbot slams league

By Boston Fever
Date: 18/4/2007

Stewart Talbot has slammed the Football League for scare mongering regarding United's future.

The league has gone public over its doubts of United managing to complete their remaining three fixtures, with just ten professionals available for the visit of Chester on Saturday.

However veteran midfielder Talbot, who returns to the squad for the game, insists it isn't helping things and that United will complete the season.

"The league and club have unresolved issues about fulfilling fixtures," Talbot told the Lincolnshire Echo.

"The league are going a bit over the top about it and should be trying to help us out a little bit.

"I've no worries we'll complete the final three games."

Another days has passed without payment for United's players with Talbot admitting things are getting desperate.

"Many of the players are getting desperate," he added.

"The lads are giving everything they have got for the club, but in terms of putting food on the table for their families, it's reaching crisis point.

"Some of them are struggling to get to training or even league games."

What would happen if they couldn't fulfil all their fixtures, would it affect any points gained by teams against them confised

Its an interesting situation, Thats for sure
I'd think that if Boston do go down to the Conference, That could be the end for them, Unless someone comes in and changes there fortunes around quickly!

Apparantley they have no running water to the ground at the moment either, So the pitch isnt even watered before games!

here's a thought someone has just alerted me to, if Boston cannot complete all their games then their results are expunged from the season.
We have taken 6 from them, Walsall 2.

How typical would that be ?

Surely we could loan them Davison, Rea, Young, Jones and Maidens, pay for their wages in order to give them match practice or has the emergancy loan deadline finished?

Surely we could persuade James Winter to join them as a free agent?

That would definitely happen. What about promotion? are we still guaranteed?

Swindon took four points off them, MK like us took six. Therefore the league table would look like this (as of today)

Walsall 83
Hartlepool 81
Swindon 77
MKD 69

So yes, we are still up. This scenario is not going to happen though, Boston have called up their entire youth team in order to see out the season.

Quote:

Manager Steve Evans has confirmed that he has only nine professional players available for selection when Chester City visit Lincolnshire on Saturday. The entire youth team squad are on stand-by.

Evans was not willing to discuss details of the wages owed to players for the month of March and now due for April but did add: "We all know it is far from right not getting paid despite what job you do. It's simple and in two weeks' time, someone has to tell us all why this has happened. It's not as if it's only wages though. Players and staff have been travelling to matches in their own cars, we have been removed from our designated training facilities and have been forced to train some 25 miles away and we have been left with a squad that resembles a five-a-side team. These are just a few of the obstacles we find in front of us as we fight a relegation battle, but I am certainly not going to give up.

"I still believe we are capable of gaining enough points to stay in the Football League, but it's the most difficult challenge ever laid before a manager and his team at any level of football, never mind it being in the Football League. We have a great team spirit here but I ask every supporter up and down the country to think what life would be like for them and their family if they had not been paid since about the third week of February. That's nine weeks and counting!

"We need our supporters to get behind us on Saturday and given what they have been like recently, I do not see there being anything else. They have been superb and on behalf of everyone at Boston United, I thank them. We certainly need them now and for them it would be great if we could work a miracle and stay in the Football League."

"As for the wages and the like, that's down to others to tell us all openly just what is going on!"

Or out of contract and not caring about being paid in order to put themselves in the shop window.
