Programme on BBC 1 at 9pm this Thursday.
About Salford City FC who are owned by former Man Utd players Phil and Gary Neville,Paul Scholes,Nicky Butt and Ryan Giggs whos aim is to get them into the Football League.
Currently 4 points behind top of the table Darlo with 3 games in hand and in the last Qualifying round of the FA Cup today.
Sounds like they trying to buy success.
Should be worth a watch.
Ex Poolie James Poole been banging the goals in for them this season. Probably on a better contract than the reported £500 a week take it or leave it offer at POOLS.

Isn,t Salford that lovely lovely area where people go round shooting women and kids, Lovely! I wonder what the calibre of supporters who follow them is. I just hope they stay out of the football league. :naughty:

Buying the league without a doubt. The crowds they get can't sustain the outlay on players. Their ground isn't even up to standard for the next level and they aren't in a rush to improve it either.

so because he scored for some non-league shite, we should have broken our wage structure to keep a massively inconsistent player at pools ?

i went to university in salford and trust me, its like leafy suburban surrey now compared to what it was like then.

No seriously, just watched this actually and thought it was really good television. Credit to whoever put it together it covered a wide range of issues from the more serious Jason Jarrett and how lad on £9,000 a week at one point can end up gripped by depression and relatively skint to how much of an arrogant arsehole even managers at that level have to deal with because he's played in the Football League in Seddon. Then to the 15-20 or so loyal people who were the club before money.

Not sure how I feel about what they are doing in terms of taking over the club they do seem to be doing it properly, and they all have reputations to uphold (Giggs secretly is putting a bit into the sister club and will do for years mind) so I can't see them getting bored as they are football people probably more so than any other club in the World. To be honest the more I see Neville brothers talk about the game the more impressed I am with them.

Looking forward to the next one.

That geezer who helped out at the club, the former akcauhloc, made a few good points, it seems they were happy in the league they were, if they want to watch top level footy they'll watch man united round the corner. Salford was something for the community, it feels like they are gunna take it from them.

They're owned by 5 millionaire ex-footballers and a bloke worth over £1 billion. They could knock up a decent stadium in a couple of months if needed. How are Darlo going to build a stadium fit for use in the FL?

Under the current set up I don't think thats something we will have to worry about. National League North is probably as far as we can realistically get, possibly lower half National League if we get lucky.

I think we might get a passing mention this week. They'll probably make a big thing of the game when we took about 90% of the crowd and where the team froze sadx

£10k worth of damage according to Gary Neville. However a nuclear bomb would have difficulty causing £10k worth of damage to that place.
Allegedly toilets were trashed and a sign smashed up. Treat people like shit and if they have had a drink or two they may not react pleasantly. Mind you I'm not trying to justify what damage may have occurred, however the whole match was handled very badly from an organisational point of view and Salford are to blame for that since they knew we were bringing a lot of fans.

Fully expect Salford to become a league club within next 5/6 years.
Owners have drive and ambition contacts and know what they are doing.
Add in the finacial backing and im sure the dream will become a reality.

AL tho there dream of becoming a premier league team will stay a dream!

Caught the last half hour and do you know what, I quite fancy following my club around these small towns / clubs  only for a season mind as I'm sure the novelty would wear off and I know, be careful what you wish for......

Did you see the Prescot cables fan with the drum, why would you but then again good luck to the fella.

The Nevilles and Scholes come across really well.

Those two running the football side in the second episode are just scum. Horrible people.

But the whole club seems horrible to me.

But those managers!!!!!!!!!!!

They are like a few that run sunday pub teams and fill it full of hard lads that can fight, so intimate their way to the top.

Seen it happen years ago, and recently.

I wouldnt play tfor those two if they were last club standing.

Seddon is a gob shite and a big time charlie at that level but he was right to go off and do his day job. The Man Utd lot could never understand the struggle for someone on £400 a week, especially when they only get paid during the season.

As for the management team, they did the job but I suspect they'd only be a short term solution as players will stop playing for someone who shouts them down all the time.

I would love to see one of the players give those two managers a good kicking.

Think they are a right pair of hard cases.

Honest answer, yes the status of being a league club is nice but for enjoyment I prefer the lower levels. It reminds me of times when going to football was enjoyable and where fans get treat with a bit more respect than they do higher up.

Going off some of the comments made on here about your recent performances, that is debatable!

Back to the original subject, the managerial team looked like knobs in the documentary but on tonight's showing they've got a well organised side and deseve credit for it. Not, as has been suggested, a team of thugs at all.
