Good Morning All

Its with regret that I am posting for this reason on your fans forum.

Northampton Town FC are at risk of going out of business in 2 weeks time. We face a winding up petition on the 16th November for an unpaid tax bill. We also find ourselves owing a massive 10Million pound loan to our local council which was taken out for stadium redevelopment, which has mysteriously gone missing in our property developing chairmans pockets David Cardoza.

I personally have followed the cobblers across land and sea of the UK, visiting the majority of the 92 football league clubs. I ask in hope that you can help us with raising awareness to our cause with help growing publicity on social media. We have a twitter pages @savethecobblers and using the hashtags #SaveTheCobblers.

Finally, I ask if you can all dig deep for as little or as much as you can. We have a fund raising page which is https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/ntfctrust , we've set a target of £100,000 to help with the tax bill and day to day running of the club but unfortunately whats needed is substantially more! We are currently just over £18,000.

Thank you for your time reading this, and we do hope to be still in existence come Christmas!!

Thanks
NTFC Supporters.

What is the Football League doing about this? Wouldn't it be great if their fit and proper person test for prospective club owners actually weeded out the charlatans and rip off merchants? Maybe a bond system - a few million of their own money held in trust by the League itself would help to keep them honest.

And if they don't have decent cash reserves then they've no business wanting to own a football club, have they? Oh, hang on...

This is an incredibly sad situation. However, how nobody saw that a league 2 club would struggle to pay back £10m is beyond me. We'd struggle to pay back £10,000. Equally the council are as responsible as the developer who cannot account for the money. Starting to think having the council involved in our ground is no good for us if other councils get it this wrong.

Hope the club survives for the sake of football, but it's a valuable lesson for all clubs to live within their means, even if that results in the absolute turgid football we put up with.

You've seriously got to question Northampton council here and what the hell they were doing in the first place borrowing a League Two club who don't get gates that much bigger than us ten million pounds to redevelope a relatively new stadium that is already fit for purpose in terms of the size of club they are.

Thank God our council are skint.

until I worked down here I didnt realise how close Northampton is to Rushden.

Drove past Rushdens old ground today, its about a mile from our office.

Very odd how they ever became a league club. Its just a collection of villages.

What a tidy, but totally false ground it was. What's the state of it now? Looked up Rushden and Diamonds and they now play at the Dog and Duck in Wellingborough !

Its quite sad actually. Imagine a ghost town then compare it to a football grround. Just like that.

On your backside once!!?!

Darlo have been on their backside more than you are on your couch in your front garden whenever the suns out with a can of 'Ace'. They've been on their backside more than the World crab football champions.
