Just bought a pair of Maphisto Shark fit sandals. They are the best casual wear I've ever had, very comfortable, like walking on air. Would deffo recommend these. I've been wearing this brand since 2000, never with socks. Not even once.

OK, now we have established that, can those of you that wear such ponsy footwear as sandals etc, explain how that can ever be acceptable in a blokes life.

You see, a bloke should always be ready for any event that may occur. For example, you never know when the opportunity to have a footy kick about will happen. Bearing this in mind, how can any self respecting bloke go out dressed in footwear that is totally unsuitable for the example just given.

And if I ever see blokes walking around a park with his kids, and they have a ball, and he cant play because he is wearing sandals, I honestly believe that is tantamount to abuse and he should be shot.

If you are a parent with a son,and you go out for the day without a ball, and make them wear sandals, you a fucking disgrace.

Still don't get the sandal thing, one of the directors at my last job on casual Friday used to wear a shirt, jeans and fucking sandals. I wear flip flops around the pool when on holiday but thats my limit.

Ripper is not gay, nor does he do what their lass tells him to do. Also he has a son, and will expect said son to kick a ball about, even in the most inapproriate places. Even weddings. Yes I made sure my lads had a ball to kick about with, the only time we forced them to go to such an event. And both wore trainers. But of course, you lot, being self respecting blokes, wouldnt expect anything else.

What a load of shite Colonel. The world's top players are more and more coming from hotter places where sandals are the norm for most of the year and many kids play barefoot. The balls they play with are irregular and the pitches are bumpy. People like you who have cosseted their children's feet in trainers and supplied them with proper balls and decent playing surfaces have destroyed any chance of England ever winning anything again. Unless we get lots of refugees from sandal wearing cultures such as Syria in which case we might be alright.

Think about it, and think back to when you were all kids.

There you are in the park, mam and dad took you there for the afternoon. You have a ball, and make a goal with your jumpers. How can it ever be right that you would do such a thing whilst wearing sandals. What self respecting parent would make you?

And then of course you decide to play on the swings. Then a few more kids join in,and its obvious it will end up in a game of footy. It always did.

But of course there is always the loner, the daft kid,who would try and join in, and invariably he would be the one wearing sandals. He would of course be ridiculed by the others, but you suspect his parents never understood.

That kid just could not partake in the aforementioned game of footy, will undoubtedly have been bullied at school, and very probably ended up as the only gay in the village.

And his parents were entirely to blame.

I just hope those promoting the wearing of sandals on family days out read this and learn, otherwise you will get no sympathy from me, when your sad little kids are destroyed.

Look Colonel, I understand how much not being allowed to play because of your sandals must have scarred you but it is OK nowadays. You can let all that angst go and move on. Wearing sandals if you like. But not with socks.

People need to be aware in the winter when you have grey slip ons on that you are a sandal vandal
