I can't believe the doom and gloom already.

We were comfortably better side today...we created loads of chances, gave one of the promotion favourites barely a sniff at our goal... And yet it's another opportunity for everyone to jump on bandwagon and say squad is rubbish etc...Etc... Jesus!

Once these players bed in and get a run going we will do really well. I expect no more than mid table, but we could do better. We are only 3 points outside play offs having not won in 5, having major injury troubles already and had some really tough away games.

Players brought in are unquestionably better ( in most cases). Bingham is just lacking in confidence but he is a constant threat.... 4 good chances today showing he is always in the right place.. He just needs one to go in off his arse! Oates has improved game on game..paynter's hold up play was superb today, Harrison looked back to best... Carroll ( tho not at 100%) is better than any left back we have bad for years.... My on,y concern is midfield balance - would have liked to see walker start and feather stone play Bates role... But other than that who/ what else could you criticise today?!

Keep the faith.. We will do well this season!!

Have to agree. We didn't play overly amazing, but we controlled the match. Need to start finding the net again though.

Can't play featherstone in that holding role because he doesn't tackle.

It happened in Carlisle game when Magnay got injured, we got completely over ran because nobody just sat

I thought it was a reasonably entertaining game, both sides tried to play decent football, and there were plenty of chances at both ends. Thought second half we were the only side likely to win the game, and probably created enough chances to have done so.

The defence looks a bit more solid, the two loanees played really well, and Oates is coming on in leaps and bounds.

Only real negative for me was how little creativity we show from set pieces, especially corners. Must have had a dozen corners today and yet we never tried to do something to change the angle of delivery.

Fair assessment, that's basically the way I saw it. Finishing leaves a lot to be desired. After a run of 6 defeats nice to stop the rot, however not much to make me think we are going to be anything but bottom half this season. Think Fenwick should start instead of Bingham or even Paynter on todays performance.

I thought we played quite well just lacking a cutting edge up front and creative midfielder. Young fullback Halliday did ok and only a goal was missing from our performance. Last season we would have lost that game one nil but our defence has definitely tightened up. They say if you can't winthe game don't lose it and a point is better than nothing.

I've possibly been one of the biggest critics of the team since the start of the season. I thought we were unbelievably lucky to win those games at the start. Today I thought we were excellent and another day could of comfortably won 3-0. Defence looked solid, we looked lively created quite a bit. Just lacking that bit of luck in the box or a quality finish. Still think we look a better team with Fenwick and walker in it but Moore obviously not overly keen on starting Fenwick upfront. Keep playing like that and we will comfortably be mid table.

I thought it was a good performance yesterday. The first time this season I could say Pools controlled the game. Encouraging that chances are being created, not so that none were taken but they will be on another day.

After the garbage of last year sometimes you just have to accept a point now and again. We have cobbled together a team and with one or two good loans if the owners have the finance then who knows some teams may get a shock against us.

Halliday was outstanding .., a long term loan for him would bea great move. Get magnay back in for bates too ASAP... Thinks looking better already.

Shame Nelson Addy hasn't had a run... Looked poor in the holding role when he came on v Carlisle at home.... But worth a shot in one of the advanced positions.... He likes a run at players and seems to be a creative type player

Boro just seem to have unlimited supply of really technically gifted players. Halliday was the best player on the pitch- given how long he was at York last season on loan, must be a chance we can keep him beyond the initial month.

I wonder if Boro are now the best side in the North East ?

After seeing Newcastle and Sunderland on motd I'd say yes boro are.

Always seem to have younguns through and give them a chance, Newcastle and Sunderland rarely do yet they have talent coming through (aarons n watmore)

I was in Newcastle yday n I spoke to a few fans, playing some awful football at the moment.

About time Conner Smith was givien a start on the left wing.
A talented player who could provide some better service for our forwards.

Agree with pretty much all of the positive stuff on this thread.

It was only the keepers face preventing Halliday winning it for us, he had a really good game. Harrison had a cracking second half too.

Oates had a good game too, I can see why he's keeping Fenwick out of the side. (Wide just isn't Fenwick's position for me though, he needs to play through the middle).

Bearing in mind as well, this was against a side who trump us on wage budget apparently.

There are plenty of sides worse than us in this division on current evidence.

The only criticism I had on Saturday was Ronnie taking Bingham off for Fenwick. Regardless of how well Bingham plays, his pace and movement means we always look threatening going forward. I know Moore clearly prefers Paynter over any of the other forwards, but when it gets to the 60th minute and Paynter starts to slow up, he should be replaced by Fenwick. It's clear that Fenwicks best position is through the middle. You can tell by his self-comparison with Costa on Twitter over the weekend that he prefers the hustle and bustle with the centre halves than he does full backs.

Personally, I thought Bates was a more than adequate replacement in the holding role on Saturday. Yes he doesn't get about as much as Magnay, but it was the best shape our midfield has had all season. He kept in the middle, and told Woods and Featherstone exactly where he wanted them all game. This restricted Cambridge to passing amongst there defenders then going long.

Harrison had his best game of the season as a result of playing alongside a decent defender. Hopefully Boyce's loan can be extend well beyond the 1 month.

Without a doubt. He is head and shoulders above any of our other defenders.

I noticed from Hallidays interview that he played in centre mid for York last year. A season long loan for him, and a midfield 3 of Magnay, Woods and Halliday would certainly not by short of work rate and getting stuck in, and a bit of creativity. Something for Ronnie to consider once Duckworth is back.
