Afternoon all, after a bit of advice with regards our game with you in a few weeks (tuesday Night)
Ive booked flights up to Newcastle , on a tuesday night would you recommend staying in Hartlepool itself so i can drown my sorrows straight away, head for Sunderland (possibly later bar opening times) or head back to Newcastle and find a club (on a tuesday night?).
Any bars/clubs likely to be open in hartlepool late on a tuesday?

All the best

First of all we need you to answer a short questionnaire.

What are your thoughts on Jeremy Corbyn?

You'll struggle to get public transport out of Hartlepool after the match finishes. Depends if you want to cough up for a maxi.

Mr Ripper owns a Maxi and his rates are very reasonable!

With the game finishing at around half nine your public transport options are very limited. There are no buses to either Sunderland or Newcastle at that time. The last train to both places leaves at 21.40 so that could require a very quick getaway at the final whistle. Taxi is the only other option and they normally charge around £36 to Newcastle airport so to the city you are looking at something around this amount.

Both Premier Inn and Travelodge hotels can be found close to the ground at Hartlepool Marina. Premier Inn saver rate looks to be cheaper for that Tuesday night. Not sure what time your return flight leaves but the first train North on a morning leaves at 7.03. As for nightlife in midweek you are coming to the wrong place. Maybe someone else can suggest somewhere.

Best for a pint before the game is the Rat Race Ale House which serves Cask Ale and Cider only so don't go in and ask for lager. The Mill House next to the ground is ok too.

Hope this is of some help

Find a B&B in Yarm. Take taxi straight there after game. Go to legendary Tuesday 'grab a granny' night at the Cross Keys upstairs club. It's the top Tuesday night on Teesside, they aren't grannies (most of them) and a West Country accent should do the trick as long as you don't look like Wurzel Gummidge.

You wont find many late bars in hartlepool on a tuesday to be honest, you'll be only be looking at a few pubs open in church street with 11pm closing.

Newcastle would be better, assuming student night, but it's your taxi fare back up there, ok if theres 4/5 of you like.

Pint in Hartlepool after the game, train to Sunderland at 10:20pm, pint in Sunderland then Metro to Newcastle to finish your night.

I came up for a birthday do in the Travellers on Saturday. At about ten we fancied going to the Causeway, and expected to be able to stick my arm out on Stockton Road and get one in a couple of minutes. Apparently this is no longer the case as no bugger goes out any more.

We ended up walking to the Causeway as all the firms we rang had no cars till after midnight, and the back room was empty.

This makes me really sad. One of the best things about the town was the nightlife and availability of cheap taxis. What is going to be left apart from Pools?

I would get the Grand Central to Sunderland m8 , then metro to Newcastle. Hartlepool closes at 10-pm during the week, nothing doing. In my experience there is little doing in Sunderland or Newcastle either Mon-Thurs, but Newcastle is obviously your best bet, being the regional capital and big university city.If you stay in Hartlepool then accommodation would be cheap as chips, but I would make the best of your pre match drinking time rather than after the game.

His new album is superb, musical equivalent of Boyd's return from Boston.

Would love to see him live but he seems to swerve most of France. Probably fair enough given the low turn out for anyone who isn't easily pigeon-holed.

Your first port of call in Hartlepool has to be the Rat Race, micro pub at the train station holds about 12 people but a nice pint.

This is true, if you like real ale this is the place in Hartlepool. Then onto the Jacksons Arms and the Ward Jackson ( Lloyds Bar ) all 3 within 5 mins of the station and 5 mins from the ground.
