Ive felt like giving up meself Mutley on many occasions but you know wea are Poolies till We Die!

I think Mr Mutley was malihg a general reference to the game in general and nowt to fo with giving up on Pools.
As Mr Potato head has equalled Bobby Charltons record, does anyone have a stat to show their respective goals per game...?

I think shrek is 1.58 goals per game and the great Bobby Charlton was 1.68 goals per game, however don't forget Bobby scored his as a midfielder using old style heavy leather footballs and most of shreks have been from inside the box and 5 were penalties using airey fairey light swervey balls ! No contest

Exactly the same number of games and goals so the ratios are exactly the same.

it could be argued that over the last 60 years, defending (or at least Goalkeeping in particular) have improved immensely.

The average goals per match has reduced from 3.2 in the 60's to 2.5 in recent times.

Charlton was playing in the best team in the world, whereas Rooney has been playing in an England team that are no where near what they where.


At the end of the day, Rooney will be Englands all time top scorer and deservedly so.
