Just been given an unlocked iphone4 in mint condition!!!!

The thing is it won't conect to my service provider after inserting the Sim Card!!!!

Apparently the card reader isn't working correctly!!!!

Any ideas on how much it will cost to put right???? sctatchinghead

I wouldn't worry about the cost of getting it unlocked as much as handling stolen goods!

Probably IMEI blocked, wouldn't say stolen, probably an insurance jobbie. Can't get it unlocked if that's the case, needs another baseband to work. That's why a lot of stolen phones end up in Pakistan/India.

If the phone turns on and lets you access the dialler get the IMEI by dialling *#06# and pressing call, put the number in this tool here:

http://www.numberingplans.com/?page=analysis&sub=imeinr

That will tell you if it's blacklisted. If it's not then it's potentially fucked. Apple will fix it for a small fortune, riskier is giving it to your local mobile shop to sort.
