I'd say whatever they do in Premiership is pretty irrelevant regarding next weeks game that will probably see an entirely different eleven.

I suppose if they lose again at the weekend they might field a stronger team in search of a confidence building win.

West Ham away for them on Saturday followed by home to Leicester.

They might see it as an opportunity to win a major competition and get into europe or they may think the premiership is worth the risk of playing a virtual reserve team.

They also may want to give their key players a confidence boost by participating in an opportunity to to secure a comfortable, morale-boosting passage to round three. They were impressive tonight tbh - they fully deserved to take a point from the Scouse and were robbed by a very dubious decision.

two dubious decisions

Nothing wrong with elphicks goal, lovren bought that free kick with a bit of acting.

And under the new rules bentekes goal shouldnt have stood as coutinho was offside and made an attempt for the ball.

Very harshly done, bit of an average game with not much chances, draw was a fair result.

I thought Bournemouth were the better side for good chunks of that game. Goal given was disgraceful and 5 yards offside after they scored a perfectly good goal themselves which was ruled out.

Comical performance from ref and officials throughout, the yellow card for handball and yellow card was just as shocking as the goal and goal that wasn't.

Very good side who play football the right way. Staying up is obviously there priority but with 9 new signings I cannot see anything other than an away win unless we get that ref. I live in hope for an upset but I just can't see it. If they come here with no wins on the board he'll certainly be fielding a side looking to build confidence.

In all honesty I'd rather us focus on the league and staying up. Get to 50 points and let out a big sigh of relief. Last season cannot happen again and if we lost players through Injury against Bournemouth it could be a something that could come back to haunt us.

It makes a mockery of this new rule on offsides, they brought it in at the last minute, went n presented it all to the clubs, then on the 2nd weekend the linesman bottles it.

Only good thing about it is it will have put a good dent in bookies pockets. Home win plus main striker scoring 1st will have been extremley popular bets.

as long as manage our squad right, we give it a go and obviously it will be difficult.

can never say no chance but yes our chances are very slim, probably regardless of team they play.
