I see Salty is famous at last. Good work, that.

(I hope I've managed the link properly this time.)

ie...don't call us, we'll call you!

When's the program coming out, Salty? And a map......never heard of some of these venues.....are they in walking distance of each other?

I've not seen most of the musicians before, either, which is good. Eliza is brilliant but I've probably seen her often enough for noo.

Yep, they're all in walking distance. . The georgian and green room are literally yards apart, and the arcs only a couple of mins walk away on the other side of the high street.

All the best Salty. Only ever heard you recorded but I like what I hear. How would you categorise your latest efforts.?
("I wouldn't" is a valid reply but doesn't really help me grok.)

See, that's why I rarely bother anymore.

I'm just yakking to my old mate Ben and somebody makes a spiteful remark.

It's really too pathetic.

At your age you should really be more reconciled. 68 isn't it?

I've many faults but I don't think being spiteful is one of them.
Surely the phrase I used is an old joke. Everyone must have used it at some point.
Do lighten up.

68 isn't it?[/quote]

No it isn't. But I wouldn't care if it were as I don't consider
advancing old age to be the slur you seem to. And before you try to say you've mentioned age in context, no you haven't.

My age wasn't in context any of the other times you've mentioned it over the years, either. Now and always, it's been an attempt at belittlement. And you talk about spitefulness? You come over as a man who's never been made to question anything below the top of his head.

now, now kids...play nice!

Monty, this new thing is trad folk...3 part harmonies with one electric guitar just.
Got ideas of grandeur at some point of adding beats and electronica, but I think one might need talent for that!

The event is this Saturday if anyone wants to join us for a class day filled with wonderful music?!
If the folk banner outs you off, there's actually only 3 trad folk acts on the bill...none of it is 'diddly diddly' either

You'll have to buy a ticket and find out. We've got ours, but then we're dead organised.

Bit of a trek fro me unfortunately, I've been recommending it to my offspring in the town though.

I remember reading about how Joe Strummer dealt with a promoter who was worried that The Clash hadn't sold enough tickets for a tour a couple of weeks before it was due to start. He just said "Clash fans aren't the sort of people who want to spend money in advance or wait for tickets the post, they might need the money for something else. They just want to walk up on the night and have a great evening of rock n roll." I reckon folkies might be similar.

"wait for tickets the post,"

Erm...are you sure you've got the hang of this postal service thing? You don't have to stay in until the envelope arrives ;)

Joe Strummer said it not me. I agree with him though, there is a lot to be said for spontaneity. The Channel One Sound System is on here in a couple of months but how am I supposed to know if I'll fancy going to see them on 21 November? All gigs should be pay on the door, anybody well organised enough to buy tickets weeks in advanced should be barred for being anti-rock n roll. Obviously festivals and stadium gigs couldn't be pay on the door which is why they should be banned.

Yes. Down with that sort of thing.
But Salty said we had to buy in advance, so we did. We spontaneously bought tickets in advance.

Would you spontaneously jump off the pier if Salty said you had to? He might like his folk but deep down he is a very bad man.

And a ticket link : http://arconline.co.uk/whats-on/music/t ... e-volume-1 if anyone other than Grabey baby fancies it, and why wouldn't you?

That's a relief...cos I'm no good at scanning.
Quite a good column for finding out what's on locally. In fact the only one that I know of. Folk Roundabout these days is mostly just full venues with 'TBA' printed next to them.
