But we weren't very good in pre-season. They're the games that matter

Thought we were poor, but 3 points will do!

Brilliant start to season. Nice to see Woods hard work rewarded with the winner.

I'd settle for the current league table come the end of the season.

Credit to Sam Collins, had he won a league game he'd taken charge of before?

I'd be gutted if we missed out on the title on goal difference and ended up 5th!

Sure we won an away game when caretaker last season, possibly Exeter.

A team that can score goals is never poor. I know it's early days but Paynter's signing is startng to look inspired.
For some strange reason he is not even in the top scorers list on the BBC site. If he was he'd be 3rd.

excellent news. Last year we had to play out of our skin just to win, now we can play shit and win. Things are looking up!

Maybe Keith Curle is responsible for updating it?

After last season I'd be over the moon to miss out on the title on goal difference!

Another one of the told you so brigade.

If you are going to use sarcasm you should probably ensure you at least use relevant statements. The formation in pre season is different than the one we are using and is what people raised concern about

Great win without playing particularly well. Bingham is such an outlet, the 2 goals couldn't be any different in terms of quality of finish but the goal kick in bud up to 2nd is fantastic counter attacking set up

oh behave. My point is, as its always been, is that pre-season is nothing but a fitness exercise and a way to work out where your weaknesses are and address them. Which is exactly what has been done.

good job we didn't have flinders in goal. It would have gone out for a throw in.

How did flinders do anyway?

Brigade? :naughty:

People on here where freaking out over 2 bad results in pre-season. Saying Paynter shouldn't be starting ahead of Fenwick, cashing out promotion bets before a league game has even started. Madness.

Said Fenwick should start over Paynter in a 2 man strike force. Now correct me if wrong but we aren't playing that now.

We've changed it and it looks far better and players look more comfortable. Stuff to work on but it is nice to win today without being particularly good!

Cashed out bet at 40/1 and backed us at 50/1 with Skybet after two games.

No madness here.

Chunky said it was a strange decision to make Paynter captain as he could only score a penalty against Billingham. Based on pre season kick abouts.

Never looked like scoring in open play.

Fenwick is nowhere near starting over Paynter even less in a front two.

Another one of the told you so brigade. God forbid someone says something and opposite happens. I based it on fact I didn't think Paynter looked that great after Gateshead and Chesterfield games and how seemed to struggle with formation.

If we gonna have this after every single win and Paynter goal, the place is going to become even more boring that you try to make it as it is

Great chance to make it 4 out of 4 on Tuesday but Pools have a habit of cocking thing up against lowly opposition.

According to ITMC, we haven't won 3 competitive matches at the start of the season since 2002-03 rolf (urghh didn't realise that was called Rolf)

We lost the 4th game then... but had a bit of a season.

Hoping to have some jib with local Newport fans tomorrow :)

Listened in, seems like we're getting the luck we've been due for the past few seasons in the space of a few games. looking forward to the return fixture on Jan 2nd :)

Well you don't get hard earned wins without graft and goals so I'm fine with that.

i think that might be the first time since 57/58 that we have won 4 games at the start of a season? they were all league games tho.
