But all the experts on here said Fenwick wouldn't be starting. Does Ronnie not listen to them?

Who has said that about Fenwick lol

It's been based on pre season where we didn't play this formation. Looked streets ahead of any performance from pre season. Everyone actually understood what they were meant to be doing

Who'd have predicted that pre season would be paled into insignificance after the first proper match?

It was a complete different formation....was it or was it not?

All the comments were about the formation not looking great, but as usual you look past the actual points being made and just use something to try and back your opinion up again

I thought Paynter was rubbish as well and should not have been made captain, and couldn't score apart from a penalty against Billingham?? Based on pre season.

Also when we got to a home League game we didn't play that formation, how do you know that we haven't been training a lot 4-3-3 and Ronnie was happy enough with how we shaped up but is planning playing 5-3-2 in certain games or away from home? The friendlies against decent opposition were an away game and two at home against a team from a higher league.

I've known all along that minor miracles were our strategy this season. Has no one been paying attention?

Don't think I ever said Paynter was rubbish, but questioned the captain dude to fact just had an opinion Fenwick should start and didn't look like was going to if went 2 up front.

As pointed out by chip, it's very open today but think it's preferable, certainly at home. 3-5-2 may well be what we use away from home as again I'm sure I made comment about how it's not particularly exciting and designed more to frustrate than entertain.

Good for the season to be back though. Stuff to work on but more than happy with the start as we did get clean sheet and 2 strikers off the mark

With Carson, Richards, Jones, Walker all injured and Bates was given an injection in his knee prior to match which Ronnie decided was a risk he didn't want to take, furthermore a couple of loan deals fell through on Friday Ronnie reverted to a back four instead of his preferred back three (or back five ).

Taking all this into account I don't think we did too bad according to Ronnie up till Friday there was a couple of loans arranged which fell through leaving some last minute training (I think he said about a hour and a half ) working on a back four.

So all in all I think we probably did ok due to those circumstances. We did have quite a bit of luck on occasions and probably wouldn't have got away with it against one of the better teams in this league but I'm sure we will be in better shape next league match.

Interesting that roadrunner. I wonder what position the loan players were? Mirfin would be a good signing I reckon.
