Anyone know why our lasses laptop won't connect to the internet no more? I click in bottom right and it says 'no connections available' despite our wifi being on. I can't even get it to search for wifi as if it's somehow turned off the wifi function? No switches on side or anything.
I
I try to set up a connection and it wants 'VPN' details and stuff?

Have you turned it off and back on again?

I've quite a bit of experience of connections playing up. In my considered opinion you're in the shit and nothing you can do will ever make it work again.

Until suddenly one day it mends itself all on its own. There is no known formula for knowing when that day will be.

You need to go into device manager and make sure the wifi adapter is enabled.

Failing that, get hold of a USB wifi dongle and use that instead of the internal wifi.

One of the laptop function keys might have a blue aerial type thing on it. Hold a blueish Fn key down (near the spacebar) and press the blue aerial type thing. This might switch the wifi on. Or blow the laptop up. And Im colour blind so it probably isnt blue.

Hope this helps.

That's right, the f12 key was having no effect and found a guide that said remove battery etc and it will work again and it now says it's turning wifi on etc but it's still not showing any connections?

If you scrub all the dried spunk off it using a vapourous cleaning agent, it might re-invigorate itself. :-D

If you can't see any networks and your wi-fi is on (laptop and router), then it could be an issue with services in your laptop...like Network Connections or Wireless Configuration - these services needs to have status: STARTED and type: AUTOMATIC.

Open services window by clicking on START button and then click on RUN - in the OPEN box type SERVICES.MSC, then click OK.

You can then check the status of these services and change them if necessary.

Thanks mate but I did some refresh option which removed everything apart from photos and media (basically back to factory settings) and is fine now.

Still only runs footy manager at half a star game speed lol

I would suggest re installing windows and it may well pick up the network signal again. Backup your files beforehand though
