Really pisses me off when they cross roads at traffic lights and make me stop. Isn't the whole point of using a bicycle that you use the roads and not pavements etc. not nice people slow traffic down enough without using pedestrian crossings too.

not nice people.

We are nice people, well, those of us who don't use the pavement, anyway! There's one thing most cyclists will agree on; it's a scary thing to do.

Remember tree, I make a mistake with my bike, I hurt myself, you make a mistake with your car, you can seriously hurt others. Cut us some slack, we're not in big metal boxes with airbags.

Oh, and I don't slow traffic down. Cycling in a city is usually faster than driving. It's one of the reasons I bought a bike.

Where I live there are tons of bike paths but whoever designed them clearly didn't think them through. In fact I'm convinced most town councils aren't really serious about them.
The only way I can get from the end of our street onto the main bike path alive is to get off and walk across the zebra crossing. Fortunately drivers here are patient and respectful.

I have no problem with people on bikes. What grinds my gears is the tight cycling clothes, Is there really any need?

A man drops his kid off at the same school as my kid, in all the cycling gear, stupid shoes, tight top, and shorts that are so tight I can see his circumcised cock.

Is there any need?

Stick a pair of bloody under pants on man.

I went on a big fun ride about a month ago to mix with the natives a bit more. It was only about 6 miles.
Most of the 700 or so people came as they were, but the organising crew just had to dress up for the Olympic Games didn't they.

There's a fella at work who cycles to work, he has the full gear... Shoes, tightest shorts in the world, gloves, helmet, skin tight top, special sunglasses etc... He uses the bathroom as a changing room and leaves his gear all over the place, including a tyre. It's the chavvy nob heads or kids that do my head in, riding topless or doing no handers in the middle of the road.

I been doing about 40 miles a week for the last seven weeks as part of me crash diet.
Mostly from town centre to past the domes and back with the odd trip up the banks to north of crimdon caravan park.
Mind you some of them runners think they own seaton promena
de.
RESULT 7kg lighter
gain without pain!

Recomend cycling as the most enjoyable way to lose some weight.

i was riding my bike down lancaster road yesterday and some idiot pulled up to the junction (i think its brougham terrace), stared straight at me as he checked for traffic then pulled out right as i was coming up to the junction forcing me to quickly stop. he must have had some confidence in my breaks as i was going downhill pretty fast and would've smashed straight into him. it happens all the time, a lot of drivers don't give way to cyclists

A good tip is to ride with caution.
Some idiot car drivers forget bikes still have right of way at certain junctions.

I don't like the way cyclists seem to pick and choose which laws they adhere to, red lights being the main one as it's extremely dangerous. Other than that I have no issues with them, there's a lot more arrogant drivers causing problems with pig headedness than cyclists.

I've had 2 near death experiences at exactly the same spot, its a terrible town to cycle in and its understandable why a lot of people cycle on the pavement. There's an alleged cycle track from the Hart to Haswell walkway down to The Touchdown, which is ridiculous as most of it is blocked on an evening by parked cars, so you end up swerving on and off the main road to get round them.

I can understand why motorists hate cyclists, and vice versa. It makes a pleasant change going to Barcelona 3 times a year and cycling in a city where somebody has put some thought into creating space for cyclists.

Mind you I'm amazed nobody has yet pointed out that cyclists don't pay road tax so have no right to be on the roads.

Road tax is now based on emissions. I don't think my farts are bad enough to leave me liable for road tax!

Car owners don't pay road tax either. There's no such thing as road tax. Its a vehicle excise duty.

What about the wear and tear on our gears and clutches, and the extra gas needed to pass these bastads on a busy long road.

And pedestrians. How come they never pay pavement tax, eh? eh?

I do a lot of driving and a lot of cycling so see both sides of it.

The one thing I know for certain is it doesn't matter if you put a twat in a car or on a bike he's still a twat.

I agree, but I know which one's more dangerous. Someone once threatened to run me over. It would have been an idle threat if he was on a bike.

There are bad cyclists and bad drivers. I cycled for years and with my kids and I get a bit pissed off with the 'I have a right to....' cyclists without a thought to the consequences of their actions. You have a right to tap dance in a minefield but you wouldn't, so cycle defensively.
And can someone tell the thickets who cycle against the traffic not to... and while I'm on, if you're gonna ride a bike, master the fecking gears. There's nowt worse than some lycra loon who's out on their shiney new bike sweating like a pig in a microwave pedalling away like a hamster on a promise and making no progress.

I do a lot of cycling and never a truer word has been said than this.

I just assume every car driving is going to turn without indicating and try not to get wound up when cyclists jump lights. End of the day cyclists and motorists are all just people wanting to get somewhere and I hate all the unnecessary vitriol.

Cyclists on the road who think they can just go straight over on a red light. Thats annoying.

I reckon that anyone who drives a car who also cycles will be much more adherent to rules of the road and also much more tolerant of other cyclists when driving.

And that's from experience of doing both myself.

Cancel that remark. Two elderly ladies were killed by a car yesterday on the very same crossing. In broad daylight. Driver breathalysed negative. I'm guessing he was on the phone.

Cyclists get a hard time because there seems to be a higher percentage that make up their own rules. Maybe they should require a license to go on the road? Everyone else on the road does, with the exception of horse riders who in my opinion have no place on the road in the 21st century.
I know the majority of bike riders will have licenses for other vehicles but not one specific to bikes.

Do they still have the cycling proficiency test? I passed mine when I was about 12. You got a silver and red triangular lapel badge. I was dead proud of mine like.
They did the lessons in the courtroom in the old police station in Raby Road.
