Any help from any of the mechanical minded bunker gadgies?

The rear wiper packed up on the missus' Audi A3; the garage said the motor was goosed. I tried turning it off and on, but that didn't work. I've changed the motor, still no joy. Checked the fuse, and that's fine. Any ideas anyone? There's also no water getting to it, but the pump works as there's still water going to the front washers (am I right in thinking that it's a dual motor - the fusebox suggests this?).

Check the pipe that runs through the headliner to the rear washer jet, it could have came off somewhere and be putting water somewhere you don't want it. Like the wiring to the rear wiper!

Check the wiring loom between the car and hatchback you may have a broken wire. Check the plug at the motor with a circuit tester

Did this. Reading was 11 (one more than 10! ;-)) could this be a case of the new motor is actually a duff?

To have two faults related to the same thing, water flow and electrical power to a motor suggests a common cause.

For the rear washer try and determine if the rear washer pump motor is working, if it is you have a break in the water line or a blockage. If there is no washer pump noise you have a duff washer motor or a electrical "break" of some sort to the motor feed (the latter more likely). You can test the pump similarly to the wiper motor below.

The wiper motor can be easily tested by checking if the voltage is reaching the terminals of the motor when the wiper switch is operated, if not you have an electrical "break" somewhere. Depending on your electrical skills you could test the motor by applying the battery voltage acros the motor terminals (safer to get an electrician to do this possibly).

The hatch hinge area would be a common area for the two faults to potentially occur as the area is flexed each time the hatch opens and closes, as would any electrical connector block that is common to both components, this includes the washer/rear wiper stalk which is also probably common.

Good luck

The circuit tester I was referring to is a simple bulb type that illuminates to confirm power is getting to the connection, when you turn the rear wiper on the light should come on, also if the light does come on then check the earth point for the motor, but possibly the motor if second hand could be duff
