Keith Curle sounds like he's on a bit of an ego trip.

Goes a long way to explaining his recent (poor) goal scoring record.

Yep! A good read that and I think he is going to be a good signing and can,t wait for him to bang a hat trick V Carlisle and watch him sprint over to Curle and do press ups in front of him.

There's a reason Curle never lasts more than a year in a job...

Completely unrelated but his wikipedia makes for interesting reading:
Quote:
He was controversially sacked in December 2004 after allegations that he bullied a youth-team player. However, in August 2006, Curle won a case for wrongful dismissal against the club and was awarded undisclosed damages. The judge in the case cleared Curle of any wrongdoing, and described Mansfield's disciplinary process as a "sham

I've said it since the back end of the season, I fancy Carlisle to go down this year. The signings they're making have done nothing to change my mind and the more I hear about Curle the more I think we got off lightly with Colin Cooper.

Steady on. By all accounts Colin Cooper is a far nicer bloke that Keith Curle.

But had Cooper stayed, Pools would have been relegated by Easter. Curle at least managed to keep Carlisle up.

Pools' home game against Carlisle last season said it all. We were dreadful and made them look like a decent team.

Cracking article. And like other have said, it makes you see things a bit differently.

I do wonder why the Mail has not conducted such a warts and all interview however. Surely this article would have well suited to 'Hartlepool' rag.

I have to admit my first reaction reading that interview was 'what an whinging get' and if that had been a Pools player leaving is we would all have slated him. And as always there's no smoke without fire

Not a fan of players, or managers, laundering in public.

The way he was talking about him I thought he might have got him confused with Steve Howard.

Paynter certainly seems to have a lot to prove, hopefully Moore will get the best out of him.

To be honest Chip, most supporters of clubs where a player has left under a cloud have the genetically ingrained reaction of slagging them off, we are masters of the dark art..
He's had good spells and bad spells at clubs, all we can do is see what emerges.

Not a fan of players, or managers, laundering in publicWhy not, if you feel you've been badly treat what's the problem, that's how bullying thrives when daft schoolkid notions of not grassing tell us saying nowt is the right thing to do. If we all knew a lot more of what actually went on maybe we could make sounder more reasoned judgements. Confidentiality clauses ..there's two words I detest.

Here's a novel idea. Let's judge new players on what they do for us. Or is that daft?

I don 't agree becsuse I'm an advocate of not judging anyone till I see how they perfom. I haven't made my mind up, whereas you appear to have a negative view of the bloke.

Its taken the gloss off of his time in Carlisle.

Roll on his Pools goals.

The image we all have of footballers is spoilt diva brats who don't live in the real world.

Reading that tho you can see they go through the same stuff we do, if my boss made me stay late id be screwed as I pick 2 of my kids up from nursery.

Hope he does well.

Judging by his career, he seems to have great seasons or average/poor seasons. This could be all sorts of things, but being in a decent team and confidence obviously have a lot to do with it. Plus 3/4 seasons he's had in league one he's scored goals, so I think he can be a real asset in this league. I don't think it's his "attitude" that might be the problem judging by the article, I just think if it was me and the manager took an obvious dislike/grudge then it's going to make things very hard to turn around. Hopefully Ronnie is the type to get his arm around him when he needs it and get him going again. If that's the case we could have a player on our hands, who's still only 30.

No. I simply expressed a different opinion to you. I didn't ridicule you or your opinion, just disagreed on our interpretatiion of his signing. I'm hopeful it works out.

Sounds like Paynter endured a tough time, Curle sounds like a right twat on a power trip- Hopefully Billy will walk the walk, Marvin Morgan was saying something similar when he came on loan.

Would love Paynter to recapture his form here and shoves it up Curle when we play them. I'd like to hear Curle's side but its nice to see a player speak openly and admitting to breaking down at the treatment he was receiving, that takes a bit of guts if anyone can get Paynter back on track its Ronnie.

Ron's blog on the OS is a good read. Sounds like Paynter has been looking after himself and is setting the standard fitness wise. Fair play.

That was a reference to fans in general, yet how many would stop and think he had a point if he was leaving us. I certainly wouldn't go to the automatic position of player wrong, club/manager always right. I don't have a problem if things like this are aired in public.
As to my previous statement of 'That's what some fans do, it avoids having to think' ......I could have reworded it to ...' Some fans, appalled that the player has had the nerve to disrespect the club by claiming it treat him badly during his spell here is viewed as a whining grass who should have kept his mouth shut, rode off into the sunset and airbrushed himself from any connection with club, the ungrateful get' ....Hows that?

I like to hear both sides of the argument and make my own mind up.
