Is it still politically correct? Does it still get sung?

It is OK to sing it if you wave the original sheet music in the air at the same time. Very important not to make any 'Can you tell what it is yet?' jokes as well.

The lack of response speaks volumes.
So what's the new song then?

You couldnt make it up, typical of pools luck. 5 years ago you would never have bet on Harris being what we now know him to be, Saville yes but not Rolf. As I say could only happen to us.

Is that "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley, or "Don't Worry Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin, which somehow seemed to suddenly be a Bob Marley song according to ill-informed Journalists etc at the end of last season?

"Two Little Boys" isn't a "Rolf Harris Song" though is it?

Definitely 'Three Little Birds' (even if 99% of people who know the chorus don't know the name of the song).

And as it's a song less than 40 years old it's got to be more in keeping with Pools' go ahead image than one that's over 110 (and inextricably linked with Groper Harris).

But if we went with Bobby McFerrin we could do mass throat singing and whistling and he even suggests a possible range of fancy dress outfits on his video.

Come to think of it, 'Tie me kangaroo down' and 'Jake the peg ( with his extra leg)' are titles I'm looking at in a whole new light !

Of course it isn't. But it is in most people's eyes, and therein lies the problem.

Not many iconic figures stand up well to detailed scrutiny of every area of their lives. Che Guevara was a homophobe who tried to stamp out rock and roll in Cuba while Winston Churchill only opposed appeasement because he thought Germany was a threat to the Empire and he was very keen to have the Welsh miners shot for going on strike while he was Home Secretary. Then there is your own Iron lady who appears to have up to her neck in cover-ups including Hillsborough, Orgreave and widespread child abuse in establishment circles.

I suppose that's the nature of icons - real people with flaws turned into one dimensional symbols.

Maybe we could rewrite 2LB from a Guevara/Churchill angle, with a nod to Thatcher in the chorus. Then just make it a bit more reggae-like and Bob (Marley)'s your uncle (by marriage, obviously).

It wasn't seen as 'rape' then and husbands knocking hell out of their wives/girlfriends was as common as dogs stuck together on street corners in those days!!!! confised

Thankfully Society has changed!!!!

To most successful 'entertainers' of the 70s, rape and wife-beating was pretty tame.
