Look at those adverts - one for the Mail Sports Special (RIP), John C Leech (most appropriate name ever for an estate agent), and Britvic.

During John Smarts reign as chairman as there's an advert for his business, New County.
There appears to be no seats at all in the end section of the stand.

I never understood the design of those barriers on the terrace.

Photo is deffo from 87-88 season, the only season those seeats were missing in the end sections. As Mutley said, post-Cardiff riot.

We were stood in front of where the Cardiff lot were 'sitting' and I remember that after the seat chucking stopped and the coppers were leading the knobs out the lad next to us whacked one of them on the head with a pair of new trainers he had in a carrier bag. Used the bag to get a good swing going and slapped it down right on top of his head. The big hard lad was speechless for a second and then started whining to his police escort to get the Poolie arrested - even the coppers were laughing at him.*

*Obviously you can't condone new shoe related violence at football matches under any circumstances but it was very funny and he thoroughly deserved it.

He should have put the new trainers on and put his old trainers in the carrier bag.
