The title race:

Pools remaining games:

Notts County H
County are still in with a shout of the play offs

Rochdale A
They have nothing to play for, should be a straightforward win.

Bristol Rovers H
Tough game, Bristol on the fringe of a play off place

Walsall's remaining games:

Bury H
Should be a walkover Bury are awful

Wrexham H
Again, you'd have to go for a comfortable home win

Swindon A
Unless Swindon lose their next two games and MK win theirs, this should be a game where Swindon hav nothing to play for.

In summary, I reckon that Walsall have an easier run in despite the Swindon game. With is being only 1 point ahead in practice, I reckon we need three wins for the title.

Put like that it would seem we have to play a couple of clubs with something to play for, however I think we play better against teams who are not so negative and therefore fancy our prospects of the title.

It's impossible to predict, who would have thought Barnet would have beat us as they had nothing to play for. I'd rather be in our position and certainly wouldn't fancy going to 3rd top on the last day of the season

Bury can still get relegated but I agree they are cr@p
Wrexham need points and just hammered Lincoln out of sight
Swindon will want to end the season with a win

I can see them getting 6 points

Notts Cty got turned over by Walsall and by all reports they should of won
Rochdale Nowt to play for but still a dodgy team to beat away from home
Bristol Rovers by the time this game comes round we all should know what we need from the game to win the league

I can see us winning the first 2 games and the league before the last game but fingers crossed.

All up for grabs, you have some very tricky games there but you have the two points.......

I'm just enjoying promotion this week and see how it goes on from there!

Taking goal difference into account its only one point. If we draw a game and you win one, you go top.

It's not one point though is it?! If they drew a game and we lost....we'd still be top!

I think we already know that mon ami.

I honestly don't see where Walsall will drop a point unless Swindon really turn it on. They're on a very good run themselves. Its gonna be tight.

Apart from losing to us, Swindon haven't lost at home since November. I can think of much better places to go to

To be honest i can't see Walsall dropping any more points although i was told they were diabolical on saturday. Reckon we will win on Friday, which psycholically will put us 5 points ahead. Then you've to hope that one of those teams at the bottom will fight for their lives and maybe get a draw. Rochdale will be tought, similar to the Wycombe game i reckon. My worry is their better goal difference and the last game against Swindon. They may have nowt to play for and might blood a few young uns. i reckon the season still might have a few twists and turns and could still go to the final game of the season. i already have no nails!

Wrexham is the key game for Walsall, they seem to be the only team in the bottom 4 with any fight left in them and to destroy Lincoln away shows what they can do.

Why the hell wouldn't we win all three games?
We've already been through our biggest blip since November and put that slump in form behind us lmao.

We are predators now and clubs like those three are just itching to be our prey.

Simply because despite all the evidence to the contrary, we are Hartlepool United supporters and we have an inbuilt paranoia button that expects the job to be cocked up.

I wouldn't swap places with Walsall but their superior goal difference does concern me.

Toughest one there is the Gas game, fought like tigers at our place to get a 2-2 draw.

I can see us matching each other on the last day, a draw each so it might be decided in the next two games......

If you draw a game then we should win the title. You have to get nine points because if you fail to win one of your three you hand us a game spare.

My concern is the goal difference & I think the Accrington game at times was the one game to swing that goal difference in our favour or even to match what Walsall have

I think with a Walsall draw at any point, Its definatley on us to win it

Its going to be a right nail biter though

One possible scenario is Pools drawing against County who were hard done by to get nothing from us. Their away form is much better than their home form too. If we should win that game (Bury) then we'd be top. A win apiece in the next game leaving it all to play for on the last day.

Another possible scenario is you winning all your games of course, but I'm not going to dwell on that

Nicely poised though rolf

I'd be very surprised if Pools or Walsall took anything less than six points each from their last two home games. Therefore I think the title will hinge on the one remaining away game for each side.
Whether or not Notts Co or Bristol Rovers are doing well, they are going to be up against a side which has huge reserves of ability, will-to-win, determination, physical strength, confidence and fitness. THEY are the teams with something to worry about when they play against us, not the other way round. The Pools players are unlikely to wilt against opposition which, despite any temporary upsurge in recent form, are NOT in the same class as Pools. It would be a MAJOR surprise if we failed to gain 6 points in the two home games. Ditto Walsall vs Bury and Wrexham.
I think if Walsall fail to win at Swindon then the title's going North!!!

PS not to mention the packed-to-the-rafters home support and wall of noise which will engulf the Vic in these last two home games!!! A large stadium with 7,000 in doesn't have the same impact as the Vic does with 7,000 inside.

I think we can get 3 points against Bury and Wrexham. Not sure about Swinedon. We played them at home in December and to be honest they were probably the best side I've seen at Bescot this season (Walsall aside)

Notts County probably did out play us,on Sat but that's not use if you don't get the goals to show for it.I missed the Bristol game at home :uhoh: so can't say much about them.

Good luck and may the best team win (as long as it begins with W) rolf

We've won it at Gig Land before now (promotion that is), at home v Oldham, at home v Bristol City and the Millenium stadium. Now add Meadow Lane to the list

From 1988 the list above......
