apologies in advance if this doesn't make much sense but....

I have some college work and some music on my mp3 player. However a few days ago i tried to open the file up on my pc to see my work and music but a message appeared saying 'Do you want to format it now?' I realise that if i formatted it i would lose all my work and music, but when i click no nothing happens. So i was wondering if anyone knew if i would be able to access my work and music somehow?

Edit : I forgot to mention that when i try and play music from my mp3 player it comes up "disk error".

You can usually re-set the player without affecting the files on it. Check the user manual or go online to the maker to see how.

Worked for me when mine kept locking up.
