It's very sad, particularly as footballers are generally as fit as can be, yet it seems a regular occurrence. Marc Vivian Foe and Fabrice Muamba ones that stand out in my memory. Thankfully the latter survived and I wish the same miracle, as unlikely as it currently appears, for Gregory Mertens.
Such a shame that the majority of us will only be familiar for his name because of such a tragic event.
