over the moon with the result...a massive win.

simply echoing the words of sir danny wilson on the official website. the job isnt finished, as he says WE WANT TO WIN THE TITLE.

under newell the players and management were celebrating for the last 4 weeks of the season. the eye was firmly off the prize. you sense that everything is different under wilson. he was talking about catching walsall who were top when we were 4th.

spoke to a couple of the players this week and they are desperate to finish top. by all means party tonight, but come friday night lets take nothing for granted. we need that ground packed full of poolies giving it 100 percent. we need the officials and opposition intimidated and the lads supported.

when the league is won then i will start asking about fookin celebrations.

Go on laughing boy, treat yoursen to a promotion shandy tonight, I am!

didnt do the open bus thing

why bother - never won owt

may do it this year if they win just to get some photos took and flog em or even put them on some microsoft tshirts.

There again a title winning team shot would be ideal for the cover of my next piece of extremely hard fookin work from which i again expect an apathetic bunch of supporters not to show any fookin interest in and i will struggle to get anywhere near a manageable nice loss for what again will be a masterpiece.

so dont talk to me about fookn celebrations either

There was a small article about our concil not being supportive and refusing to sell us the ground in Wycombe's programme.

god only knows what fans not going to the games must be going through.

I can understand exactly what you're on about mr chip.I think it comes from years of watching pools back when we were really poor, the amount of games we would be up 1 0 and then concede twice in the the last 10 was unreal in those days. this team just seems to be different and they seem to be able to cope with the pressure, but personally I can't! I'm losing my bottle every game.
and this friday I'll be in deepest darkest cornwall with not even poolsworld to keep me in touch banghead

Radio Borer/Cleveland will have commentary on t'interweb - they just block it on a Saturday because the Beeb doesn't have international rights to broadcast live Premiersh*t commentary.

Assuming they don't go up, at least we'll have the Yeovil highlights to look forward to on Spotlight next season!

i can understand people wanting to party yesterday, but i cannot for the life of me fathom these fans who are saying that all that matters is promotion.

ive been watching pools since 1969 and we have never won one single trophy. we are now within 3 games of changing that so i cant bring myself to think about champagne and open top bus tours just yet.

if you want to know the truth i think there is a very real chance of me having a heart attack at a game in the very near future. its starting to make me feel physically sick in the last 15 minutes. every time the opposition mount an attack i feel like i might pass out, and im celebrating us getting a goal kick like i do a birthday.

god only knows what fans not going to the games must be going through.

welcome to the board ya miserable bounder, did you think that at the start of the season, did you think that after half a dozen or so games when it looked like we were heading the 'other way', whether you did or not I and I'm sure most of our fans would have been delighted with promotion had it been offered then. After visiting some of the shocking stadiums and witnessing some of the dreadful football that is League 2 our 1st priority was to get out of this division, the club , players and management deserve full credit for that regardless of whether they lift the title as well or not, if we win the title it'll be brilliant, I've been going to Pools for 34 years and we've won nowt in the way of actual silverware but I've witnessed 3 promotions, what seems like a million play-off semi-finals and an actual play-off final, each one was just a bonus to me and many others, my joy comes from just watching Hartlepool United play, when we are winning things or getting close to winning things it is just a bonus, a massive bonus.
Don't get greedy mate, just enjoy what they have given you already, then, if they give you more you'll enjoy it even more.
Players at clubs like ours don't get credit and glory thrown their way very often, when they DO earn it we should honour them in the best way we possibly can, an open top bus is probably the best way to honour these players, and the best way for the fans to show their appreciation, as for the club itself maybe the council could start supporting IOR in the way of agreeing to sell them the ground back so that HUFC can really fulfil their potential and ambition.

presumably he has issues with joined up thinking. mr codd if all that matters to you is promotion then presumably you wont be going to any more games this season now that its wrapped up ?

no i thought not. because winning the league does matter to you. like it matters to the rest of us.

my point was that we should leave all plans for celebrating the record breaking season, until the conclusion of the record breaking season. if that makes me a miserable c*** then it also makes danny wilson and the players and management team miserable c*** too.

for the record i did predict promotion at the start of the season.

and also for the record, if you are going to tell someone to welcome to the board and call them a c*** its a bit daft referring to them in the same post as your mate. it makes you look a c***.

What the hell is 'joined up thinking'? I know what it is, the most wankiest middle management speak in the world Chip

Aw get off your high horse Mr Fireball, don't take the comments personally man, i'll change the phrase ''welcome to the board ya miserable bounder'' to 'get away with you and cheer up' cos that's all it means, it's just a figure of speech man !!!! If you were offended by the first choice of phrase then I apologise for what it's worth.
Now promotion is not ALL that matters to me it was just MY first priority, at this moment in time I really couldn't care less about winning the title, honestly, now come Friday night ,when I get to the Vic, I'll be as desperate as the next man for Pools to win, and I'll be the same as everyone else working out all the permutations that could affect us winning the title, so of course I WILL be at the rest of the games this season just as I would however if we were merely playing for a mediocre midtable spot like our neighbours down the A66.

As for leaving all plans for celebrating until the conclusion of the season making Danny and the boys miserable so and so's well I totally disagree, as a fan my team has just won promotion and I can celebrate that for a little longer than the players, you see I don't HAVE to go to anymore games (as said earlier tho' , I will) but the players do, 'cos they get paid to, it's their job, they had a small celebration at the end of the game and I'm sure they were quite chuffed on their way home too but they've still got a job to try and finish and in a very professional way so they'll get on with it. The way I look at it i'm celebrating promotion, and if we win the title I'll celebrate that even more, but if we don't then I'll have still enjoyed a fantastic season, and I'll have still enjoyed a fantastic 'promotion day/weekend' celebration.

For the record at the start of the season I expected promotion but thought it would be hard, by the end of September I feared relegation, by half time at Accrington away I wanted Danny out and by Christmas I thought we'd win the league by the end of March, so what, I was wrong twice and right twice, didn't stop me going though, going to Pools is just going to Pools anything they give me back is bonus, like I said in my first reply.

Also for the record you haven't said anything to upset me, all my mates get told to welcome to the board and get called bounders as regular as clockwork and so do I, it's banter, I'll say it again don't take it personally, don't forget nearly every new poster on this board gets the traditional Bunker welcome in form of ''welcome to the board'', lighten up man and remember not everyones opinion is the same as yours OR mine.
Just relax and enjoy the rest of the season man or you really will end up a complete and utter lunatic !!!!!!

maybe it was the expectation of winning it in 03/04, and the fact that it seemed a foregone conclusion, and to see it whipped away from us at the death........... promotion was in the bag very early that year in reality, so the title was seemingly the only thing we were looking at.
This time around I could accept losing the title to Walsall - I wouldn't like it - but getting promoted from our position in November is fantastic. Getting into League One is all that matters, as we've seen how much better it is there.
In 03/04 we hadn't been in that division for ten years so it was going into the unknown a bit, and so I think the title meant a lot more back then for some reason (plus the fact we went top in virtually the first week)!!!!!

Dead right Parmo. In all our minds in March 02/03 the title was ours to lose.
This time it's ours to win.

As far as I'm concerned 'weve got the big prize and this time we've done it properly. Simply securing promotion with a win makes up for 2002/03 on its own.

Can I put in a request for the parade to be on the Monday, I can't make the Sunday due to a Christening where I'm going to become a Godparent...

I have some sympathy with Chip's view, but I wouldn't go so far as that. Promotion is in the bag, great, but there's still something to play for and we all want that celebration to have a Trophy at the centre of it. I won't be despairing if we don't win it (although obviously it would be a disappointment) as unlike last time it's been a lot closer since we hit the top spot and we've always known Walsall are a threat. Compare this to last time, when at about the end of February most of the bookies had stopped taking bets because we were so far in front - this time, we've come from behind, and have never been more than a handful of points ahead.

Will I still celebrate if we don't take the title? Of course. Promotion is not to be sneezed at. But at the same time there's three games still to come that are of huge importance, and we need to keep going. If a golfer gets a hole in one at the 15th and takes the lead, he hasn't won the tournament - he needs to keep his concentration for the last three holes. That's where we are now.

I can totally see both points of view, and I'm split down the middle.

considering the mood after the Shrewsbury + Barnet games, promotion has been a minor miracle and a fantastic achievement, and unusually for me I'm smiling a lot! people are saying to me whats with the happy face?!!
I'm still a bit pissed from the weekend cos I had a dead big drink yesterday!!

Winning the league will be fantastic if it happens, but like chip, i can barely think about it.
Memories like Cheltenham and Bristol away are still raw and we all have that paranoid feeling that we'll lose out. and if we do, we will all be gutted as make no bones about it. But any forthcoming disappointments will very very quickly turn back to celebrations where we will all to a man applaud what Danny Wilson has done to turn it around, and we will all to a man applaud our players to the hilt - cos they've been bloody magnificent!

hope that makes some kinda sense, it does to me..... :uhoh:

Promotion is over & done with,we've got it & we actually won it ourselves rather than on the back of someone elses defeat..
Now lets get on with cheering our way to the title & leave the squabbling to rivals.
Every game is now the biggest of the season starting on Friday night

No, but you have got a big red nose and your trousers keep falling down.........Image

For me like, I just can't see them tripping up with what's in front of them so it's academic. They will not allow anyone to take their prize and that's an end to it. Since November they've simply forgotten how to lose with the one notable exception. Once they put that behind them, I never thought they'd lose again this season and I said it at the time. They got the loss out of the way just at the right time and the next game they'll drop points in will be in League One.

So yez can all belt up!!
