With what's going on in Hartlepool under the labour party right now, anyone voting for labour in any capacity needs their head looking at.

Thing is, if Wrighty stood unopposed he'd probably come second.... why not a monkey, it worked last time, but a real one this time.

We had some little UKIP cretin knock at our day last Monday, we ignored him but then he whacked a few leaflets through the door. Our lass chased after him and give him it back. He was about 4ft and looked like a baby.

Did anyone see that drunk fella behind the town end at the Southend game before kick off shouting "UKIP", "There's only one Nigel Farage" and "Kick the black c*nts out!" (or something along those lines)...

Absolutely no place for that in society never mind football. Feel embarrassed to have a prat like that following our club!

Wrighty will win because with everbody but me standing against him as a candidate the challengers will split their votes.
If Wrighty was up against one canfidate it msy be a different picture.

The other parties have massively missed a trick in Hartlepool for the last couple of elections.

Wright will get back in because as Snowy says there's nobody who'll get enough collective vote to beat him. If the Tories or even an independent party put a high profile figure up against him like has happened in Bradford West with George Galloway he'd lose.

We don't have anyone creditable to vote for and have no scope to make a difference in Hartlepool.

Did you see the big tv debate? If greens ever had a major influence in political decisions in the uk then we would be bankrupt before the end of parliament. Bunch of do gooders for me. Waste half the budget on renewable energy and foreign aid.

"Let's cap the number of immigrants to 30000 a year, I mean 20000 oh I mean 50000".

UKIP worry me so much. I actually agree with some of their immigration policies but as pointed out by someone else on here a few weeks ago, beyond that do they actually have any policies? I worry that they still have quite a few racist supporters who will only vote for that reason.

It shows how pissed off people are with the other parties because ukip will win some seats with a protest vote, just like lib dems did last time and just look what happened there.

Very difficult to decide because like many others on here, Wright is hardly
my favourite.

The only two parties with a chance of winning the Hartlepool seat at the general election are Labour and UKIP. So it comes down to whether you wants Wright out badly enough to vote UKIP or if you genuinely want UKIP to win.

No point in shouting me down about UKIP, I'm not offering a preference, I'm just stating facts. There are a load of people in the town who will vote for them and being all 'right on sister' won't change that.

I've not looked at who is standing but my vote will be going to the first independent on the list.

The Tories really don't care about anyone but are too mainstream to be as evil as they like.
Labour seem to have some nice fluffy ideas but no money to pay for them, and Wright is as poor as Milliband.
The Liberals fucked themselves over for 5 minutes of being lapdogs.
UKIP are a bunch of loons led by a hypocrite riding a gravy train he campaigns to stop.
I quite like the Greens but they're irrelevant on a national level and have done a job running Brighton that makes the Hartlepool Labour party look skilled.

This thread just proves that the folk of Hartlepool have virtually no say in what happens at the General election.

The first past the post system sees to that.

I know plenty of people from that part of the world and agree its a nice place to live, but it doesn't mean the Green politicians haven't made an awful lot of mistakes and have wasted a fortune doing so.

In the UK the quality of a place seems to be determined by the amount of work (or ease of travel to a range of work) available and by the attitude of the people that live there towards the place. Hartlepool has more than its share of negative people, poor employment prospects and transport links that are a joke.

Nothing has got better while Mr Wright has been our MP so he doesn't deserve a vote if he is the only man standing.

Let's be honest as far as politicians are concerned Hartlepool is a little village in the North East.
Labour don't need to invest any money in Hartlepool, my Nanna, Granda voted Labour so I will, put a red rosette on a monkey and they would get in.
Conservatives, never going to invest in Hartlepool, lost cause, because of the above reasons.
Goes against the grain but my vote would go to the Conservatives to try and oust Wright but the vote will be split as there too many candidates which will allow Wright victory.

Reading in the Times about the Green Parties comments about ending the Grand National and Greyhound racing. Political jesuits, inflexible in their vision with an equally strong belief the rest of us are out of step with them.

I have, colleague who was working in the London area, he was called into the office, finished at the end of the week, why there is loads of work onsite, nope we can employ two foreigners in place of you. Common question when looking for work in the London area, can you speak Polish/Rumanian ?
Just ask any one who works in the Contsruction/Engineering Industry about the benefits of immigrants. The benefits for companies is they employ the immigrants at less than the Nationally agreed Terms and Conditions. There have and still is protests at various sites through out the UK. I have no problem with immigrants coming to the UK to fill jobs which in some cases Brits won't do or there is a skill shortage but at least pay them the going rate.
London was where loads of workers went years ago, you walk round London now, there is a building bonanza currently with the workers in their hi is coats and you would be very lucky to find one who is British.
