I fucking hate the Trainline.

Last night I went to book train tickets for the York game. Nottingham to York was 18 bar. However, I live closer to Beeston station, which is one stop from Nottingham.

Beeston to York came out at over 30 snodgers. Yet Beeston to Nottingham is 2 quid. So where has this mystery extra tenner come from?

The Trainline website plays on people's ignorance, and does not give anything like the best routes or fares available. The shithouses behind it should be forced to shovel up all the shite that drops from the toilet onto the tracks all the way from Nottingham to York. Cuunts.

Northern rail website is a little kinder at flagging up best fares, I use that site lots or alternatively national rail org.uk but you're right some of them are shut houses and actually against the customer getting best fares.

Don't buy from the trainline - ever! Its never the cheapest place to get your ticket due to all the fees they add on.

For beeston to York just buy the £2 ticket to Nottingham as you can cheap advances from Nottingham - York but not from Beeston - York as you've found.

As these are Eastcoast Advances I'd buy from http://www.virgintrainseastcoast.com/. They have a permanent online discount on their own advance fares you wont get anywhere else

Cheers Derbyshire. Are you going to York?

It can be cheaper to split tickets but you have to ensure that the service you're on calls at the stations. Have your tried Beeston-Sheffield & Sheffield-York day returns as that ticket would be valid on a through XC service changing at Derby but given the XC TM both portions when joining. Other option could be Nottingham-Leeds then Leeds-York.

The problems are when a fare is set by XC.....expect to pay a high price.
