They loaned him to us because they didn't think he was good enough and signed a replacement. Much like Bingham I will be surprised if they actually want to play him as long as we don't have him. Obviously they have been dragged into it but are still 8 points above us and we play other relegation rivals so if we can take points of them it will benefit Cambridge as well

Pressure right back on ior sign a decent forward or face relegation. If we go into the next few games without one it will be suicidal.

Only small bonus is now we have a chance of survival there might be one or two more interested in coming to us.

Well at least ronnie knows now if true and has all week to bring in some one else.
Lets just hope ronnie has seen enough that apart from Fenwick and Smith our other forwards are not the answer,if push comes to shove i would rather see Brad up front with tommy in midfield rather than them other useless @uckers doing @uck all as normal

its a shame but not a big surprise, cambridge are far from safe and with 8 games left they could easily get pulled into it. taking points of their rivals is a good point but i think theyll be looking at thinking if hartlepool get out of the relegation places then theres another space to be filled down there

bird just tweeted "The decision for me to stay was totally out of hands" sounds like hes disappointed to be going, judging by his twitter hes seems to have settled well

i think bird was signed shortly after fenwicks injury as a short term replacement. wouldnt be the end of the world if fenwick was back in the side but his injury seems to keep getting extended

Fenwick wont be back for at least York and probobly wont even make that so if we don't get a replacement in we are stuffed were struggling for goals as it is. It will be criminal if we go into these massive games with just harewood and franks as forwards

i think the "More to follow..." is probably because they just wanted to put a quick announcement out since hes already announced it on twitter, itll probbaly be just be a full post about bird. would love to see bingham back but manfield are not fully safe just yet so i doubt that'll happen today

Mansfield wont allow us to have Bingham back they didn't want us to have him before these three wins so why would they even want to risk that now?

I might be reading too much into this, but the use of the ellipses on the Facebook post, and end of the article hint at some kind of incoming announcement.

So I reckon that it'll be announced that Bingham's coming back at some point today.

They did that as Bird announced it on twitter so wanted to put something official on social media ASAP i imagine.

Cant see Bingham coming back anyway

and ronnie seemed confident about keeping bird so i doubt hes had a chance to get anything done that quick. hopefully now were actually in a relegation fight and in good form as opposed to being dead and buried, we might actually be able to convince a half decent player to come in

i didnt say they wanted to.

My point is they were not forced to send him as you were eluding to.

I read your post as meaning they never wanted him to come here in the first place.

If staying up does mean 750k to the club then why not offer Morecambe a small fee for redshaw (ffp allowing) if he will come here they have nothing to play for now and as we can see these loan signing can back fire lets just hope Scunthorpe dont get any ideas about Mirfin......................

Haha no didn't mean that tree when they first sent him we looked no threat whatsoever to them so they probobly never thought in a million years we could get out of it. Now they know we can. Never in a million years will they allow him back this week.

Time to offer an out of contract player a decent sum to keep us up. Surprised to see Freddy Eastwood is a free agent at only 31.

We have a great history of finding ageing tallent. Howard et al were like a fine ageing wine. We could give Connor smith a game?

In other news when's Fenwick back?

i think the loan situations with bird n bingham are obviously down to the predicament we find ourselves in. it was always going to be tough in the transfer market in our league position. im sure the recall clause in binghams loan was a deal breaker, same with bird month long deal. surely its better to have them in for a month than not at all? the alternative is to bring in someone whos not as good but were guaranteed him for the season, like morgan

theres just been another article posted saying ronnies in the market for a replacement

Bingham and Bird were decent strikers who couldnt get a game in poor League 2 sides. It stands to reason there must be plenty of similar strikers in league 1 etc sat not getting their game. Id probably rather that than a youngster from Newcastle etc.

Strangely enough, when we lent Cambridge Jermaine Easter their fans went looney over him. It kick started his career.

16 or 17 loan players a season is good for owners who do everything on the cheap but no use to a manager who wants a settled side.
I can see the loan system rules changing next season to 10 players a season or less plus it stops the young kids being giving a chance

Looking ahead to the summer i would love to see Ronnie working under some new ambitious owners.

with respect to the potential talent of Smith, don't think I'd wanting him leading the line over the next few weeks, I'd probably rather see Marlon up top than Smith in the situation we are in ( a scrap ), that said I'd prefer another loan steal if Moore finds someone suitable
