It's going to be a very tough league next season for us. The teams going up into it will have cash, there's plenty of small clubs there with spades of it already plus you add in some of the decent sized ex league clubs and well, can you see us ever coming back? We'd also be a big fish down there and teams will be dead up for it against us.

Obviously there are more important issues such as whether we'll actually have a club next year but who would you keep from the current lot?

I'd keep:

Harrison
Jones
Fenwick
Smith
Duckworth
Woods
Richards (squad utility player)
Hawkins
Green

Some of them would just be back up but we'd need players to fill out the squad. The rest of the job is a major rebuild

Reckon Holden is similar standard to a lot of conference left backs so might as well keep him.

Woods. Duckworth ( keep but he won't be here anyway). Harrison (same). Fenwick.

I've already called dibs on center-mid anyway. So we've got that covered.

The bigger question is who is going to volunteer to be dogshit picker on the rec? If we're going to play some easy-on-the-eye football, we could do with a putting green of a playing surface. I'm not sure how we'd explain Fenwick doing his ankle in as a result of his studs getting stuck in dogshit to the PFA. Gotta cover our backs lads.

I'm going insane.

The togas broke me.

Surely a lot will come down to money. The higher earners will go, the young lads will stay and get their chance...if they've shown any promise at all. If they're willing to put the effort in then I might enjoy watching us again. Oue chances of loaning any decent players will disappear too

If ior dont dissappear the demise will just continue.
Next season is all about not having a double relegation.
I might sound a bit drastic but the playing squad will get smaller again basically down to a youth team

Get the IOR OUT banners sorted!

I'm starting to think relegation would not be the end of the world, its basically division 5 these days. I also suspect the opposition fans would be quite a decent bunch.

Fully agree, this club will only advance again when IOR go. Once any incoming money stops they definitely will - but where we'll be by then is anybodies guess. The welfare of the Club is the very last thing on Ken and Russ's minds.

We will need to hit the ground running & get off to a good start if were to challenge to come straight back up or feature in the playoffs.

The financial aspect of the conference worries me and ST sales will drop significantly if the imposters remain. Their failures are the reason why we are in the mess and doubt they'll dip into their pockets next season. Parachute payment should be used to get us back into the league but no doubt Green has other ideas. My mates are also saying that the long term sustainability of the club has to be a major concern if we end up spending more than one season out the league.

In terms of a squad, expect it will be younger lads getting a chance as the higher earners who have shown they could do it in league 2 will be away. Loanees will be a challenge unless there are lads at the big clubs nearby that don't want to leave the North East.

I'm still clinging to hope that there's a miracle somewhere in the North Sea that will arrive on Saturday and stay until May!

Ior stated last month the club will stay full time.
Will that be on offering part time wages.
The future is bleak while LAUREL n HARDY are running the show and yet they get no stick from fans in the ground. Is it just going to be a peaceful protest of not re-newingseason tickets.

I've just had a look at the league two table and it doesn't say that we are down yet. 7 wins and a draw may be unlikely but there is still time. Last night was a massive blow but we should be winning most of our home games.

This is the sort of situation that many Pools fans have reminissed fondly about when we were playing mid table league one football. Has Moore given up yet ? 3 wins in the next 5.keeps the season alive going into the last few games. There are still points to play for....

Well lets all just wrap in then and not bother. Let's just roll over and accept that we're down. Even as things stand it will be easier staying up then getting promotion next season . I'm. glad Paul Baker didn't sack it off when all looked bleak at Shrewsbury .....

Is that better.

It's not 12 wins on the bounce that we need . It is 7 wins and a draw. As unlikely as that may be, it is still possible.

Fact is we haven't a cat in halls chance of promotion from the conference, it's a competitive league and we don’t have anything resembling a competitive team

I'm not saying anyone has got anything wrong. We are in the shit but having people sulking andwriting things off is pointless. Time and games are running out but if the players put everything into it we can still get results. There's plenty of time to ponder non league in the summer.

The huge problem here is that we get absolutely nothing away from home so unsure where these 7 wins are coming from.

We won't win every home game, and before anyone says why not I'll be willing to be it won't be happening. You looked at this 4 game run after Wimbledon and it was enough to keep any hope remote. 3 away games and a home game against a top 2 side, easily 0 points which we started off with last night

so to date we have won 7 games in 34 matches (1 in almost 5 games). Say 45 points is safety this season, that would mean we need to win 6 from 12 remaining fixtures. so from a team that is used to losing for the past 3 seasons, you expect them to find something that will all of a sudden turn a win ratio from 1:5 to 1:2.

Sorry but personally I can't see it. Like someone said, I hope I am wrong, but the realist in me says otherwise

We haven't got a hope in hell if we can't pick up points away from home.

It puts a lot of pressure on the home games n there's no guarantee we will win them.

I think we are down.

Thanks ken

It's ok saying who we would like to keep, but who would want to sign any of the ones we don't want not unless they are out of contract and we can release them.

Jonny you want people to stop sulking yet it seems the ones really sulking are the players every time they concede a goal.

the fans cant make the players win games.

they are dog shit.

Its mathematically possible but we aint going a cat in hells chance. Were relying on 2 teams just above us winning no more than twice. Aint happening.

Considering the last 3 bleak seasons and the way this season has gone our fans have been amazing, consistently over 3000 every home game, regularly over 200 to long distance away matches, getting behind the players and not getting on the managers backs even Colin Cooper when we where putting in the worst displays I have ever seen. We have never even got onto the owners case at home games and we sing when there's even the slightest thing worth singing about. These players and these owners do not deserve fans like us

I think the hugely discounted season tickets had something to do with it.

If we went back to the usual pricing we would be lucky to be hitting 2000

Accrington were flogging their season tickets for £200 and they get below 1000 for home games

They aren't massively discounted most clubs have figured that it helps in terms of FFP to sell a lot of season tickets. Standard price now is £150-£250, maybe we're still at the lower end of the scale but they aren't massively discounted at all and they certainly haven't been value for money.

I bet Bristol Rovers fans thought they'd have no chance this time last year, if we can manage to sort things off the the pitch it's a division that isn't as tough as people make out. Sorting things out off the pitch is unfortunately a massive if though.

Agree! first hafl saturday was like pools v workington in 1977, last night we were okay in terms possession etc, did nowt wrong but did nowt right, ala Portsmouth, Bury, team in an attacking sense are flat as a fart. We are always gonna concede one, so we always need to score two, and I just cant see this team doing that, at home or certainly away from home. York won 3-0 last night, where did that come from? they are the team that dont score, thats the sort of result away from home we need, and last night was perfect opportuniy.

The Burton game is very tricky, but they have lost their last 2. The following 4 games are against bog standard mid table 4th division dog shit like the team we played last night .

Morcambe away
Oxford away - About the only team in worse form than us
Mansfield home and Cambridge at home.

We just have to somehow keep the season alive going into the last 6 games. If we can scrape, fluke a few wins, get confidence up and get a returning Bates and Fenwick then it sets us up for the last 6 games. If we can get to 36 points at 40 games (I know a massive if) then we might just need 4 wins from the last 6 games with Carlisle and York among them.

We are struggling to win games, but York have also only won 7, Tranny and Chelt 8 and Oxford 9. If we can get within 4 points of some of them they'll soon e flapping.... And yes I am on drugs.....

The players need to step up. I expect to see them busting a gut for the cause, wasn't there but reckon Woodsy will have been a massive miss last night. I reckon we will need to pack the midfield without him.

Jonny you are going on like its us thats out there on the pitch FFS. If our management, owners, and players had half the spirit and attitude the fans had we wouldnt be in this mess.

If you think what gets written on a message board has any bearing whatsoever on results you need help mate.

We have something like 2 points from the last 13 or 14 aways. We cant even muster a shot let alone a fucking goal. I've spoken to a couple of very rational and level headed blokes who were there last night who said it was absolutely dire, and that we played with no desire or hunger.

People on here are only telling it like it is. The bookmakes give us around a 3% chance of staying up. The fact is that in all likelyhood we wont be in the Football League next season, and no amount of saying otherwise will change that.

I don't have a problem with the managers spirit, playing Franks and Compton away probably isn't the best idea though. As for the players I expect to see them scrapping to the end.

As for the owners - they will probably get rid of Moore for an inexperienced muppet at the end of the season.

The shrewsbury game wasnt even that good. We got a good start which gave us something to hold onto.

Shrewsbury were battering us and if got 1 they would have most likely went on to win. We scored the second on the counter attack to ensure we had breathing space to not cave in.

The team is spineless when we go behind so have absolutely no chance. As said if we won every home game we would still probably fall 5/6 points short so it just highlights the away form issue more and more.

This isn't being negative, it's just realistic to know that several aspects of the way the club is run has put us in the shit and the future may be the same if owners are staying in charge.

All I know is some people were creaming their pants after saturdays game, about how good it was.

All the people I have spoken to reckon we were utter bobbins, especially the first half.

But its funny how a nervous atmosphere in the last 10 minutes can cloud simple minds.
