Pens are optional but experience tells me that you should not fart during an interview. Wearing cowboy boots can also be a bad thing.

Surely if you're expecting people to complete paperwork then you would provide a selection of pens?

Personal details will be on their application form/C.V.

Not quite sure why you would give them a questionnaire/knowledge test on paper. If this is necessary on a first interview then ask them these questions verbally - you will find out a lot more about them than them writing it down.

To save me asking the same set of questions 8 times, fill in the feckin question sheet while waiting for the interviewer to call you in, I can check there knowledge and refer to said info sheet later, will you stick to your area of expertise and tell me what no 82 is at the Rainbow House sctatchinghead

Chef Manager and yes, there are a lot of legal requirements required in a kitchen, 14 allergens, haccp, cossh, sfbb, cooking temperatures, temp control, health & safety, risk assessments etc and of course, can they make a bostin parmo!

Well why didn't you say that health and safety in the kitchen required a pen. Now is it alright to have the pen in yer top pocket or do regulations require it to be behind yer lug.
Does the ink in the pen have to be a specific colour or will any do????
I would imagine it's ok to bring a fountain pen with red ink in it. Then if you leak any it can be blended into the tomato soup.

Only 1 piece pens allowed in the kitchen in case the top falls into food, pen pocket on side of sleeve alongside tasting spoons and only use once, never double dip your spoon
:naughty:

Never taken one to an interview as stated all questions should be answered verbally and question asked should write down what's appropriate. It smacks to me like your being lazy.

I once went to an interview drunk.

I don't think I took a pen on that occasion either. What a fool I felt.

Why would you need take your own pen?

Yes i'm with you on that PJ.

Never taken a pen to an interview in my life, the whole idea seems a bit archaic.

Its good to argue about something other than Pools!

The question is did he employ the pen bringer over the others?

Has he properly thought this through, they could have had brought that pen for all of the wrong reasons such as graffiti or writing abusive notes and leaving them on car windscreens or defacing books with knobs on peoples heads. I'd be more suspicious of the person who brought the pen, whats wrong with our pens? Why do you need your own?? I'd think they were a weirdo.

I've just googled the top 5 tips for an interview,in reverse order -

5. Don't say the reason you want to work in an office is to shag the birds.
4. Don't say the reason you want to work in an office is to shag the blokes.
3. Don't piss in the interview room because you don't know where the toilets are.
2. Don't refuse to shake the interviewer hand and tell him it's because he looks like a raging homo.
1. Take a pen.
