What do you have to do to (alleged) beer to make it the best in town? What manner of TLC allows such a feat? What are the other beers like that aren't the best in town? All these questions are begging for answers.

(To be fair, we did have the best pint of Bombardier in Montpellier when we had our pub there, but it was a 50/50 shot.)

Dunno, but my dad could have told you. He migrated from the Catcote to the Woodie, specifically because the Catcote landlord 'didn't keep his beer properly'. P'raps he let it go flat or made it too gassy or summat?

As an ex landlord I can throw some light on the keeping your beer properly.

You need to clean the beer lines once a week to prevent a yeast build up, which makes the beer cloudy if untreated and makes it taste oddly, you then have to pass clean water through and eventually fresh beer until it has cleared the water.

Also ensuring the beer is not out of date and if it is real ale, you have to turn the barrel and use it within a certain number of days. HTH

Nope, neither of those is the correct answer. I want to know how to serve the best beer in town, not just avoid it tasting like horse piss. How do you go the extra mile?

Don't know about the best but the Belle vue does the worst pint in the town. The Cameron upstairs room used to be a close second
