I'd have thought this position needs addressing, anyone think he'll bring someone in? Any names :?:

We have 2 already, I imagine Ronnie will be concentrating elsewhere

No chance of a new keeper I don't think.

That said, if Maxted is released, as some think he might, we'll need one. Don't think Flinders will be replaced as number one though.

did you not read after the comma, or was that too difficult for you?

If you want me to put it differently, i reckon the manager will think there are other areas of the team in more need of attention.

If he doesn't fancy Flinders then reckon he'll get rid in summer. He's already said front line, pace in midfield and experienced CB. Those will be first port of call.

Comma is irrelevant, was my reply too hard for you.

To attempt to spell it out a bit simpler for you ill use capitals.....

We have one supposed 'proper' centre back, we need at least 2 bringing in. We have 2 kids at left back, neither of which look comfortable. The only other option is Austin who has been awful for about 3 year.

We have the weakest central midfield in the division and only 1 half decent winger, on his day, when he's not crying about being up north. We have a non-existent front line. Harewood has been playing ok, but should be sub at best.

The positions we need to fill before we even consider the keeper position would be, in my opinion...

2 x Centre backs
2 x Centre Midfielders
2 x Strikers
1 x Winger
1 x Left back

Flinders has been gash this year, but i would put a lot of that down to the horrific car crash in front of him that's supposed to protect him.

of course it does, but we aint gonna bring in a new squad in January, so like my post above explains, The GK position wouldn't be my priority, nor i suspect will it be Moores.

Two seasons ago people were putting Flinders above Dimi in their greatest Pools 11s.

Is it a coincidence that Flinders hasn't been as good since Andy Collett left? I know Collett is highly rated as a gk coach and worked wonders with the keepers at Darlo, Stockdale being a good example as he was very dodgy when he first arrived and then ended up leaving for big money.

It's possibly a factor but he was a good keeper before Collett joined the club. I think its a combination of things, a slow disintegration in his confidence playing befind a pathetic team. I still don't think he's playing as badly as some are making out though for most of the goals we concede a lot of things are have normally been done badly before its gets to Flinders. Some of the goals we've conceded belong to a Sunday morning. He's not made out and out howlers he's just conceded a fair few were you're thinking 'at your best you might have saved that'

Suppose the best way to judge him is by how many he stops rather than how many he concedes. Mark Prudhoe conceded shed loads in his last season at Darlo but still got player of the season and a move to Stoke City. Even the best keeper can't make up for a poor defence.

Austin was at fault for the goal today. Suprised to see its flinders taking all the stick

It's not that surprising he's become the scapegoat, Pools fans always need at least one spoilt for choice with this lot though!!

To be fair Austin has been coming in for a LOT of criticism of late. Is he a scapegoat too?

Yep, Austin mostly to blame for the goal, the lad finished it well but I think Flinders will be disappointed to be beaten on his near post from that angle. I think Flinders thought he'd go across him.

I don't (and never have done) get all the flack that Flinders gets on here.

He doesn't concede howlers, far from it. The only area I think he's been pants in lately is his distribution.

He fucking should Grave be along with about 9 others!

People slaughtering him for a goal they've heard described by Paul Merson and nothing else is crossing a line rather.

Austin has been poor lately and I like the bloke.

I'd say the last half a dozen games I've seen him play he's been a bit error prone. Poor passing and like the goal today, not great defensively either.

It's hardly surprising that a number of players are in poor form....after all we are bottom for a reason. (Doesn't make them all shite though, they need to recapture past form. If they are genuinely not good enough/past it then fair enough but I don't think either Flinders or Austin fit into that category).

Austin made an error and Flinders should not be letting that in. Been shown on Sky and pathetically beaten at his near post again.

On a serious note could the captains armband be affecting him??

Maybe it's too tight and that's why he can't get his hands anywhere near the ball?

People still at the club dcided that Flinders could not be displaced by Rafferty. I want to know why those people responsible still have jobs at HUFC

I.e. Pears, Collins and the fat liar Russ Green

Lots of our players are shite. Flinders is one of them. Anyone saying his only weakness is distribution must shut their eyes when crosses go into the box. The mere fact that he never saves anything that doesn't just hit him seems to escape people every bit as much as the ball escapes Flinders grasp. I can only speak in relation to the home games but when was the last save he made where he had to actually dive?? I seriously can't remember one. And Steven pears can fuck right off the fat useless tw@.
