Former Century Radio and Sun FM radio presenter Mike Elliott has died at the age of 68 following his battle with cancer.

Mike caused an uproar when he called Hartlepool girls "slags" back in late nineties whilst on Century Radios phone in!

I remember listening to Mike 'the mouth' talk in back in the day, he was a funny bloke, would have had him down as older than that though he sounded that old then which must have been 15-20 years ago! Pretty sure he had a part in the 'Billy Elliott' film as well I remember him talking about it in between talking to blokes like Raymond 'how' who used to read long passages of the Bible before going all sinister about what he'd like to do to local newsreader Pam Royle 'ooooo Pam Royle hooowwwww oh Pam Royle Mike she's bloody lovely hoooowwwwwwwwww'

He used to be in a realy good folk band in the early 1970s called Northern Front with Nick Fenwick and Ed Pickford. Remember seeing him at the Nursery Inn. Like a number from that era (Jasper Carrott, Billy Connelly, Mike Harding) the comedy angle grew. RIP Mike

I wondered if it was the same person, as the Northern Front man was known as Mick. He was very good in that band, even if he did used to terrorise the audience by rushing round bullying people into joining in the choruses.
