Hello all,

Just thought I would give a view on Ronnie from a Tranmere fan,

Obviously he left us under a bit of a cloud, the betting aside we were on a really poor run ( over a 12 month period it was worked out to be the worst in our history )

However it must be added that we suffered a great number of injuries in that time and the budget had been cut to next to nothing. We also before that went through a spell of the best football we have played in many years and the injuries really did effect us.

Personally I think he will do a really good job for you at least until the end of the season and really think he is good enough to keep you up in the same way Micky Adams I think will keep us up now as well

The football will not always be pretty and Ronnie tends to not deviate from a 442 so imagine you will be going with that and he likes to have a target man upfront

I would be Amazed if Ian Goodison does not sign for you in the next few weeks, if he does do not be put off with his age even at 42 he is too good for League two and in all honesty should have been the first player we signed especially due to the physical nature of the league

I wish you all the best and hope both of us will be mid table by the end of the season

I'm no ageist, but I think I can be forgiven in saying anyone over 35 is not wanted here. We have a thing for buying and fielding antiques down here. And like a porcelain statue, they may sound nice, you might even mention it to your mates, but ultimately they do fuck all, are too fragile, need a lot of polishing and are total waste of money!

Nah 42 fits our age bracket, Ritchie played here until he was 58.

We already have a deal in place to re-sign Stevie Howard on his 42nd birthday.

1 goal in 78 games isn't bad for a defender...

Just seen his interview on the BBC in which he has said he is after an experienced centre back, as I said before I would be shocked if you did not get Goodison

As I say though he is easily good enough and his age is no issue he reads the game so well, not many players have made 400+ appearances at a club after joining at age 31

He is a legend at Tranmere and would be great for you

To be fair, Goodison has been a great player for Tranny. Remember him only a few seasons ago being exceptional at Vic Park, then a season later, or was it before, being absolutely dreadful, 3/10 performance. Would only want a keeper over 35 though, Paddy Kenny would do!!

I don't think we need a 'keeper. We need defenders that can give the 'keeper some f*!%*ing protection.

Not top priority I agree! Centre half or centre mid first imo

Can argue any position needs strengthening other than right back as that is duckworths. I couldn't even say which looks worst position.

Guess would have to say centre back as only have bates who is classed as a centre back who is ours as I presume may be end of collins' playing days with becoming assistant

I would say we need a keeper 100% so that Flinders gets put on the bench

He has been dogshit at best

I don't know what people have eyes for if they think otherwise

They should donate their eyes to charity

I reckon there's an element of truth in both views.

Yes he's not been brilliant (not appalling either just way below his best) but playing behind Western Europes worst back four has chipped away at his confidence. The vast majority of goals we concede he has little or no chance of stopping, free headers from corners and free shots in the box without any pressure on the ball will not be solved by changing keeper. Our defending is a disgrace and I challenge any keeper to play well behind them. I don't think he should be captain either, not a strong character he needs to focus on his own game.

If the other is good enough to play then by all means give him a go but unless our back start doing the basics even reasonably then it will make no difference.

defence needs sorting aye - but I seen some shocking defences at Pools and at other teams over the years - but also seen match winning keepers playing behind those shite defences

a shite defence is no excuse for his own poor personal performances in my opinion

If people knew about the game they would realise that a keeper, more than any position, is a confidence position. If the confidence goes then they are fucked.

Get the confidence back and all will be well.

He was an exceptional keeper a few seasons back, so can get back to being one.

I wouldnt want to play in that team currently. Bunch of fucking faggots.

Hate them. Hate the system, hate the stupid big bloke theory, its all old hat.

Saying that, I accept and understand that thats exactly whats needed to save this club.

We need pace and big blokes, and basically kick our way up the league.

You cant play good football with shit gutless players. And thats all we have.

So there is no argument from me about playing 4 4 2, long ball shite.

Its all good if it works. Survival is all that matters.

To be fair I think Flinders is one of the few that care about the club. He always looks gutted when we get beat and has respect for the fans. He was probably one of the few hurting after the Blyth game if his Mail interview is anything to go by.

His confidence is definitely shot to pieces

He's having a poor season, no question about it, probably the poorest he's had since he signed. What's going on in front of him clearly can't help but, like several others, he looks short of confidence. It's down to Moore to instil some fight and belief into this downbeat group of players. At least in the case of Flinders we know that he is capable of performances that are more than good enough for the position we're in.

New signings need to be made, a lot of the existing squad will have to leave as they are not good enough, others hopefully will step up to the plate and give us an extra 30%, am thinking the likes of Austin, Flinders and Franks here.

We are stuck with them so there is little choice but to hope they suddenly start to perform, Let's hope they do
