I have to do the dad thing and accompany my daughter 30 feet in the air and swing from fucking tree to tree at Go Ape......and I'm shit scared of heights. Worst fucking idea ever. Tried to convince her it was better to spend the money on a Pools away day but she wasn't up for it, I even offered to get her a pie.

We're not meant to be in the fucking trees, we've evolved since then, why the fuck would we want to go back? Whoever thought this idea up needs a fucking good hiding.

So this is it. I'll be dead by about midday. See you on the other side.

Having been on just about every Roller Coaster/Ariel Slide/Glass-Floored Tower/Terrifying thrill ride in the Western world over the past few years with my kids I know EXACTLY how you feel. I wouldnt have touched stuff like that with a barge-pole when I was younger but its funny how "used-to-it" you become..

Shit my pants all the way round. Least enjoyable thing I've ever done...even worse than Port Vale away in the League Cup. That said there is a massive sense of achievement

If you don't like heights, don't do it....some people it could help I suppose but Jesus wept, it's fucking high. Yes you have a harness and everything should be safe etc but being 30 feet up on a tiny wooden platform waiting your turn to cross to another tiny wooden platform via swaying bits of rope is not my idea of fun. Fuck me.

Can start looking forward to Newport on Saturday now, come on Pools

This is very true - when I happened to glance down I very quickly looked at the tree in front of me again and that seemed to chill me out a bit

I had my younger daughter and her three nippers over in September and was almost heartbroken when they weren't interested in Port Aventura.
I did manage to do an hour's jet ski with the eldest (14) like. He drove. It was an event.

I just get a kick out ol being a mad-arse grandad. The older you get the less time you have left to get all this stuff on your CV. The jet ski videos the instructor took are one of the most precious things I possess.
