Was that the game he got hit with a pie, then turned to argue with the fans and got a slap?

I'm a Tunny boy as well.

I always remember Mr Maxwell saying if you don't want to get hit by snowballs stay off the field and don't go complaining if you did get hit by ice/snowballs

Same!! thing is it was ice in the yard so it hurt more there. Although 'snow manning' only seemed to occur on the banks/fields and seemed to just descend into tripping them up and booting them as oppose to booting snow over them.

Maxwell as no6bus says was a proper old fashioned teacher. He wasn't afraid if giving you shit. I remember once skiving out to ward Jackson Park for some chips at lunch time (when there was a big cafe in there) on the way back to tunny Maxwell jumps out from behind a tree on us and shouts at us to to back to his office. Intimidating bloke like.

On the subject of tunny field I once remember it being stupidly dense fog. We went onto the field at lunch time and couldn't find our way back to the school. The fog was so thick that you could barely see your feet. Never known anything like it.

I left in 1989. Was supposed to leave in 1990 but was asked to leave early ;) Dykey was like the Wild West then. Academically there wasn't a lot going on IMO but it certainly made you streetwise. Ive been told it was in the top 5 worst schools in the country then and looking back I can see why.

Your skills at comprehension are lacking Sussex - it talks about snowballs at Tunny - Dykey was like the wild west - it really was....

I witnessed an unnamed teacher punch a student - the student was permanently excluded, the teacher got away scot free...

Another unnamed student flashed his P**** at a teacher, was reprimanded by the head - to which he replied

"No idea why she's getting upset, its probably the biggest thing she's ever seen!"

There were two daughters - he was my form tutor at sixth form

He taught us sailing on a Wednesday afternoons - well taught in the loosest sense of the word - we spent more time pushing off the marina walls than sailing the boat...

Aye Mrs smedley was at tunny. She was canny too. Mr smedley used to have an old nazi motorbike but not sure if he still has it. A genuinely nice funny bloke but a good lecturer too. As said above they have 2 daughters. One was in my year at tunny.

Mr Smedley was at 6th form in the early 90s, but I don't know what he taught. He looked like Mr C out of the Shamen. One of his daughters was called Helen, who will be about 38 now.

Did anyone else on here go to Brierton apart from me and Poolyimp? Plenty of Pools fans there back then.

He was at sixth form in 1992

he taught Economics and was my form tutor

He also told us great tricks about making brake pads out of newspaper and old tires

And buying clothes - wearing them once but keeping the tags on, then returning them to the shop.

and to confirm what PoolieinNottingham says, we did affectionately call him Mr C....
