So it sounds as though this all comes down to the ground sale. as councillor Richardson says if IOR negotiate and there is a clause in the contract saying the site is only ever used for football purposes , sounds as though the ball is in IOR,s court , so if you are interested in taking us forward buy the ground with the clause inserted. Put all the ground shite behind us and kick on. Come on Ken kick on.

Blames anyone he can other than himself.

No-one was ganging up on a so called young manager, it's took an awful long time before people started truly chanting for his head, but hodcroft hides behind this constantly.

Other clubs seem to know how to bend the rules with FFP but we seem reluctant and fill the fans full of rubbish using it as a reason why we have such a poor budget and ultimately a poor squad

I'm reluctant to trust a former-Stalinist who turned Labour Party stalwart once the opportunity to claim attendance allowances for County Council meetings hoved into view but what Carl Richardson says is interesting.

He's clear that the two reasons for the failure of the ground sale have been the price and the idea of a covenant guaranteeing football use. I'd like to hear an answer to that because if IOR were trying to get the ground without a covenant on it we've had a lucky escape. Richardson might be trying hard to make sure that nothing shitty sticks to the council but surely IOR should be replying if that is the case?

I would be very interested to see why IOR would want the ground without a covenant (if indeed that was an issue in negotiations).
I was all for IOR getting the ground when the talks were happening but after the recent lack of investment/reinvestment I'm glad they haven't got it. They seem a bit too desperate to get it on the cheap for some reason.

It's pathetic that he's willing to take the club out of the football league just to spite the council who won't give ior the ground for pennies

It's a start, he is talking which is what we all want. Ok he isn't addressing our major concerns but it's a start surely and the protests are getting noticed.

I see that the hospice got a mention.. It will be upsetting for him seeing a good cause get the money.. Even if people can't afford the £10 they should drop in a few quid just to show him how we feel

Can't fault him for talking at least, he seems to be following the route of his favourite club newcastle n wanting to turn fans against owners.

Ken, I am sick of hearing your pathetic excuses and just as sick of hearing you blame every Tom Dick or Harry, whilst refusing to shoulder any of the blame yourself. You are the man in charge.
I don't want to hear your whingeing excuses as to why you CAN'T do anything to stop our demise.
What I want to know is what you CAN do, what you ARE doing and what you're GOING to do to get us out of this mess.
If you can't do the job, then get somebody in who can.
What you have got is a management challenge. Stop wringing your hands and face up to it or give way to somebody who will.
Let me take you back to the reason you got the club in the first place.
Harold Hornsey, the then owner, held up his hands and told the World that he had done as much as he could for the club and that it now needed, new blood, new investment to take it forward. You took up that challenge and, for a while, fulfilled Harold's decision to hand over to you. Now we are back where we were and some could argue we are now worse off.
You are now, it appears, taking us out of the football league, a feat achieved by no other owner/chairman in over 100 years.
I don't know how the original conversation with Mr Hornsey went but I am convinced the present scenario wasn't envisaged.
Mr Hornsey must be turning over in his grave.
Wake up, man.

Blaming everyone but IOR, as I said on other threat he basically blaming us the fans and those of us who can sponsor the team for not doing more. I want a reporter with any form of backbone to ask him the following repeatedly either direct or indirect in papers / social media till we get an answer;

1) Did you / IOR want the ground without a covenant from the council? if so why?
2) What are you plans to get us out of the mess?
3) why do other similar size clubs and even fans owned club have bigger squads than us
4) Is Pools self sufficient or are IOR still funding to tune of £1.2m a year, if its that latter doesnt this go against the FFP rules that you hide behind?

I still want to know what happened to the mantra 'Don't embarrass the club' because that is exactly what he is doing to his 'company.'

In any other line of business, he would have had his bollocks on a plate years ago. I'm quite sure this article is adressed mainly to himself, so who the fuck is he trying to kid? sctatchinghead

That wasn't run by the club, though it was rented to the bloke, who if my information is right did a runner. So the club can't be blamed for that.

Cafes dont just make money straight away you know, no one pays for anything upfront these days, when you buy a cake, its in installments, and FFC (financial fair cake) also monitor things very tightly with regards to the food you can supply.

Not easy these days.

I sent an email for Ken's attention over a month ago with similar questions and also other bits in it and I'm still waiting for my reply!

It shows a desperation that he is now speaking to the press. In my opinion I suspect this is only because of what Curle and others on the tele like Beagrie have been talking about not because we are bottom of the football league, which is sad enough in itself.

Noticed there was no mention of the money saved by culling the squad, slashing wages, and not replacing off the field staff.

As has been said, nobody is swallowing this garbage so why bother spouting it ?

HAHAHA Cheers Elvis,

Where to start..

Food - below standard and if I were a chef would be ashamed to send out. Its standard run of the mill cheap and cheerful carvery that is shipped in from the staincliffe / domes. Hardly ever warm. We were promised soup kettles in the box from October / November so that we had warm soup. i bet they are still in there.

Gifts - same gifts every week - silver keyring, blue keyring or a pen and pencil set. We did get one week of variety - we got a hat and scarf in August.

One week we went back in at half time to be told there were no tea bags, so couldn't get a cup of tea.

Cost of the box works out at roughly £100 per person. Take the cost of the ticket away £25 and programme etc you will be looking at in excess of £55 per person. To be served up watching a team in decline for 5 years, its hardly value for money now is it?

That is it summarised and a slight insight into the hospitality at the club. But when your there at the next league game have a look at how many of the seats within the directors enclosure are occupied!!!

It is no good Ken H. saying' Don't gang up on me'. For several years he has completely ignored the supporters of the club as if they didn't matter. He took the Supporters Association to court over the Corner Flag Club and demanded that they pay his legal fees.. He has alienated H.B.C. ,an organisation that has on a number of occasions been very helpful to the club.He threatened Billingham Town with court action. It sounds as though a number of sponsors are also unhappy with their treatment. He needs to build bridges, quickly. Ken a little bit of humility is called for.

If IOR wanted the ground that bad they would have offered more than 50k for the ground and the car park land. The fact they didn't want the covenant speaks volumes.
