So why was it yesterday that when a couple of Carlisle fans are on the pitch and one particularly brain dead and snarly faced idiot was trying to goad the Millhouse Terrace that the boys in blue stood and watched? It isn't a stewards job to sort that out. If I was a steward I'm damn sure I'm not putting myself in harms way. Apparently policing is about standing there watching with a video camera. What do we pay them for?

It's easier for them to stand back with a video camera and wait for more people to join in. It looks better for their numbers than the one arrest they'd get sorting the problem out right away.

Maybe they were waiting to see if he was gonna be brave enough or daft enough to jump into the terrace on his own?

The Carlisle lad who ran on the pitch covered more distance than Franks did the entire 2nd half.

the worst thing about that incident...

the pools lad who was at the front, opened the gate and was within a few steps of being in front of the carlisle lad. but proceeded to stay in the stand goading back instead

The police are out to ban as many as possible, you only need to gesture towards the away support for that to be perceived as violent or threatening behaviour.

So it's basically people just trying to look hard then?

I don't get the people who want to be as close as possible shouting and hurling abuse but making sure nothing actually happens. All very childish isn't it

Yes. It also gives the police an excuse to fleece the club because they can use the presence of these arseholes to argue that there is a hooligan problem so they need to gather intelligence, monitor the situation and have the numbers to act if necessary. Lots of easy overtime and a bit extra into the stretched budget.
