I always had him down as a bit of a tit. I know people like Tony Adams, Paul Gascoigne and Paul Merson took the piss (literally and figuratively) but it's a lot different these days.

That comment shows how out of touch your average footballer is with the real World. I want a £300 a week hobby on top of my job we might not be as fucking skint then :laugh:

No I did see it Mr PJ. The shoe industry is based in Guangdong, mainly in Shenzen and Donguan. These places are behemoths with 60,000 employees not uncommon. Recently there was a strike at a factory producing for all the big sports names such as Nike, Adidias, New Balance, Reebok etc.

The strike was because recent employees found out that the company wasn't paying into their welfare funds like they did for the longer term employees. The figure that was mentioned for the average monthly wage was 2800 yuan. By British standards that's peanuts, but when your rent is 60 bar a month (and you probably share), you can eat well for 2 bar a day and still send 1000 yuan home every month to a family that exists on the square root of fuck all, it's not such a bad situation.

This is how 300m people have been pulled out of poverty in the last 30 years. It's not perfect, but it's making progress.

I think it's more than that though. I bet of those Dutch lads most of them spoke three or four languages had to move to a foreign country to make it and certainly weren't financially set up for life in one contract before they even play first team football. By the time most of them get to that level they are more rounded individuals who can be treat like adults. We spawn kunts like Ferdinand and Terry totally out of touch with the real World and apart from a few exceptions as thick as shit.
