We need to obtain a list of recent boro youth players and by the process of elimination we will be able to work out who these two new ones are.

It's not like they are going to suddenly decide to retire is it?

Still shows efforts are being made to bring someone in. Can't be easy attracting players when all and sundry will be aware of the club's supposed financial situation. Just hope they can make a difference.

Steve Howard is still unattached... Maybe it's time.

Arthur Scargill and Ricky Tomlinson?

To be honest, I think we've missed the boat big style and it goes back to the Summer before James even signed his new deal. Anyone still unattached will be met with the reasonable question of why they are still available - we're at the point of effectively having to take a chance on a player who either has a past (whether injury or otherwise), or is to an extent unproven. The occasional gem turns up (Gordon Watson anyone) but there's a lot more sand and glass than diamond quality in who's available for now. We might as well have a look at Conf North and Northern Prem to see if there are any in form strikers that fancy chancing their arms in the pro ranks - at least they'd be up for it and in some sort of form, and as we've seen with the likes of Baldwin and Duckworth a good and hungry player at that level might well be able to make the step up.

You wonder why we don't at least go and have a look at this guy - 80-odd for Altrincham in the last two years, another 7 this season already in Conference Premier in a struggling side - and apparently no fee needed (although you'd imagine he wants a reasonable wage)....

Agree with above. Anyone still out on their arse now, it's got to be for a reason. Also training on their own in their local park means not exactly match fit or on form.

Reeves has been scouted by Pools(Fact) not good enough for the football league. No pace and a lot of his goals are penalties. He also earns a lot of money as a plumber. There are far better non league strikers about I can assure you.

Plasterer, not Plumber.... surely not all of his 80-odd in two years are penalties, although the point about pace is taken. My point more generally is that we'd be better off looking in Conf North, even Northern Prem, for players with some sort of form and record, than looking for 30-somethings who still haven't been signed up but may have played higher up once upon a time. No guarantee of success (coughMackay) but we're well past desperation point now...
