Post subject: This Country Makes Me Sick!!!!
PostPosted: Tue Apr 03, 2007 12:05 am
Following on from Mr.I's post about Beckett apologising to a country that invaded British soil have a read of these letters from Ceefax....

"Now we have been able to assimilate Gordon Brown's latest financial manoeuvering, can someone explain the anomaly of paying 25p per week for the over 80's?
Surely this is to recognise the war effort of that age group, either in a civilian capacity or in the services - both played an important part.
Now we offer them just over half the price of a first class stamp."
TM, East Sussex

"At 61 and having worked since I was 16, including 25 years in the Royal Navy, I recently lost my job through illness and had to claim Incapacity Benefit.
After 45 years my entitlement is £59.20 per week, but because of my Navy pension I can claim only £28.81. No joke, April or not.
I hope our service personnel in Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran know how well they will be looked after later in life."
AB, Cornwall

Now compare the above to this letter....

"I was disgusted to learn that MP's have awarded themselves another £10,000 pa, in the form of 'expenses'. When are we, their paymasters, going to curtail thier gravy train?
If they don't like the salary on offer, they shouldn't apply for the job."
RA, Hants

It makes my blood boil!!!! rage rage rage rage

Depends how you look at it. He risked his life for a pittance.

You should have said; 'senior officer pensions are quite good'. Check your facts.

No need to. I hand over a grand a month for my two without the help of the CSA. Frankly I find it odious and unfathomable how anyone would avoid supporting their own kids.
