Will a 4g SIM card work in my I phone 4? Or does it have to be a more upto date phone to work on 4g?

Also where unlocks phones?

Nope, would need to be at least an iPhone 5.

Which network?

Yes it will work but it won't run 4g.

Slightly longer and more accurate answer than my original.

The sim would work if the phone is unlocked, but you wouldn't get 4g, you should get 3g though, so if you are paying extra for 4g, then you'd be wasting your money.

If the sim is EE or 3, then 4g will work on an iphone 5.

If the sim is Vodafone or O2, you'll need an iphone 5c or 5s for 4g.

Iphone 5 is only compatible with the 4g frequencies that EE and 3 use.

There are two ways to get an iphone unlocked.

1) Go to dodgy phone shop and have it jailbroken, unless you're a geek though you'll never see the benefits and it can make your phone a bit shit.

2) Contact the network who supplied it, they'll charge a fee and will update the settings with Apple. When that's done you get a text and can update your phone via itunes and it will be unlocked via techo witchcraft.

I did 2 with Orange and it cost me £20.42.

A mate of mine does something sales related for Vodaphone on a corporate basis and he reckons when Voda & O2 have their 4g networks at full capacity EE won't keep up.

The stuff that will happen is why I've settled with an old phone and cheap payg type sim, I'd much rather get a latest phone when the networks are competing and able to offer the service to go with the handset.

My sister has a Nokia 6310 which she's had for over a decade but it still works. Apparently they are in great demand from bad last because they are untrackable. They don't have GPRS on them.

One at the top ? Best network ? I have 3 phones, one on EE , one on O2, and one on Voda, and I know which one I'd trust if I was making an important phone-call.

Voda is the second biggest mobile operator in the world behind China Mobile. Sorry but that's a fact. Its the only company in the UK investing eye watering sums on its network AND increasing its presence on the High Street by opening more shops and employing more people. It's also a UK company.

I was at a meeting today where I asked the UK CEO about infrastructure spends and where they were taking the network, and like I said the sums being invested are mind boggling.

I know you work for Orange, T-Mobile, Everything Everywhere, or whatever it is you are calling yourselves these days, and you are brand loyal, but that 11 month advantage you had on the rest of the industry with 4G is rapidly becoming history. I'd give you another 12 months, tops, to bang on about 4G. Probably less.

I find most places in Hartlepool give me 4g with EE at the moment, thankfully I've got wifi at work and wifi at home so it's rarely an issue.

Getting a bit peeved paying £80 odd quick at the moment like for 2 phones when my contracts up next year I think I'm going to change to PAYG

I really want nothing ever to do with either EE or Orange ever again so that aint an option.

Im presuming it will be locked to Orange but dont have another sim to try.

If I didn't get my phone free from work there's no way I'd have anything too flash. I'd probably buy the lowest priced 4G android phone and go on a sim only.

I dropped my phone on Monday, a Note 3. Needs a new screen at a millions pounds. I nipped into town and bought a Galaxy Fame for £60. It does exactly the same but with a much smaller screen.

Any advice on insurance fiddles? My phone is not insured (yet).

Does anybody know whether the O2 complaints service is any use? Without going into details they've completely ballsed up my daughter's account and because my Dad signed for it they are giving him loads of grief even though everything is paid. Bloke in the payments department said he'd try to sort the mess out but that I should go through complaints as well - am I likely to get any joy or should I go straight to the independent department?

You have to have followed the internal complaints procedure before you can go to an external regulator. Agents are meant to do this on the phone with you though, they have a clear escalation route.

Thanks, I'll do what he said then.

To be fair the people on the phone have done their best to be helpful but a couple of mistakes have meant that the computer system has been charging on regardless in the meantime. As the biggest cock up seems to have been caused by the most senior person I talked to I think it is reasonable to say that I've been thoroughly escalated but it did more harm than good.

I have a 3 SIM only and an O2 contract. The places I go, currently the 3 SIM gives much better coverage and data speeds than O2.

Jail breaking is adding a bit of software that means you can run non approved apps and unlock software. It can also cause your iPhone to crash and really needs a level of technical knowledge or a shop to do it who will likely charge you more than £20. Also if you update your iPhone via iTunes the jailbreak stuff might stop working and with it the unlock.

Biting the bullet and having it unlocked by the network is much simpler and doesn't mean you have to learn anything else about how to work your phone.

I have a Sony Experia on 3, can't complain. Internet is usually fast, and it's only 3G.
