I've just heard today that at the last home game of a season there is 10-12 people from the Mill House pub that buy an executive box at pools. I hear that the meal was that bad, and the game for that matter, that they seen Russ Green in the box to speak of their displeasure on the overall package that day and what he and pools were going to do about it. The reply was simple.... " Don't like it, don't come back ".

If Phil from the Mill House IS looking in, give some clarity on this mate, because I have this from a real good source..

I refuse to believe anyone at the club in an executive position would be that stupid to say such a thing.

I am sure Geoff N will be here shortly to agree.

I know the lads involved weren't happy with the food but as far as I'm aware the only action that's been taken is an email to pools about it.

I'm sort of thinking the same but wouldn't put it past anyone of them.

I believe they also got asked to leave...

If it was all the lads who came in the pub after, one in a lovely pink suit, it seemed like they'd had a good day. Well they were blaked if that is a sign of a good day

Also of they were singing a song they were in the pub it's no real surprise they got asked to leave

I heard Parmo forced Russ Green to watch 86 episodes of Japanese Robot cartoons to show him the value of lasers in the modern game.

I know there was a fair bit of singing going on in one of the boxes during the second half. Can only imagine some were so bored with the match they went and sat in their box instead.

Cant blame them tbh.

Phil was not in the box on Saturday but i was everyone there was a season ticket holder and payed £80 to be in there. we got a pen. programme and team sheet and signed matchball. The food was awful we got no menu choice at all. soggy yorkshire pud. rock hard veg. half a not so roasted roastie and a sorry looking pork chop. IMO it had been microwaved and not cooked fresh.
most left there meal and 2 refused it after seeing the others. at half time afer 1 cracker each and a bit of cheddar . after the second goal some went back into the box and started singing and were told settle down. i was asked to go into the box and have a word with them even though i never booked it and they left and went on the the terrace.
never did i hear Russ say anything like that so that is not true.
NO one was asked to leave the box.
Terry Hanlon was superb and sourced an extra signed matchball for someone.
i've been to pools in the box and carvery many times and been very satisfied but on Saturday the food was awful maybe the lads who it was there first time in the box were expecting much more were let down. my dissappointment was the food and the result. i,ve emailed pools and got a sorry but was expecting them to put it right next season for us.

I often get handed a teamsheet by someone who seems to think its really useful and il be really grateful. The fact its 2.50pm and the team was on twitter and Sky sports at 2.30pm and already been announced on the tannoy means its pretty useless to me to be honest.

What a waste of paper.

It sounds absolutely fucking rank, and a complete waste of money to me.

By the way, what is it with football clubs and bloody carvery's?

Although this doesnt sound even like a carvery.

It just sounds appalling.

If Pools cant do better than that they should give it up.

Well I'll happily leave myself open to being called a club man but, some of that initial post is some of the biggest bullshit I've read on here or any other Pools board. For anyone to actual believe that a CEO would speak to any guests in that manner is totally beyond belief. Then to actually put it on a public forum is even further from belief.

Like Mouldy I've been in the boxes and the Carvery room many times, including with my Son and his partner and my grand daughters and been more than satisfied. Natalie has even arranged pizza/chicken nuggets with chips for the kids. Even Mouldy has described his experiences with the sentence

"I've been to pools in the box and carvery many times and been very satisfied ".So it appears that even he admits that his experience on Saturday is the exception as opposed to the rule. he has said he's emailed the club which is the right way and not listening to heresay/gossip/rumour.

I would like to ask the OP why he would think Phil from the Mill House could help, if his source is so good why would he (A) have to get an answer from someone who just happens to run the pub near the ground because the incident is allegedly from people who frequent his pub and (B) why would Phil from the Mill House know what went on in another establishment ?

I must admit im always puzzled by the Carvery option. On a Saturday afternoon with a few pints etc, I cant say a Sunday Dinner has ever been something iv fancied.

Especially paying £80 for it.

But there should never be a shit meal.

There is no excuse for it.

Even I could rustle up a sandwich which would have been a better option than a bloody sunday dinner on a saturday afternoon.

The cook, or Chef, cant have much self esteem to allow shit food to go out to customers.

It happens everywhere if it the case here. I din't have the meal so can't comment but ADG I'm sure a couple of million people worldwide will disagree with

But there should never be a shit meal.

Even you must been disappointed sometime with a meal served to you. Even a so called top class restaurant charging silly prices for small portions will have disappointed customers and served what has been described as a shit meal by some but superb by others. Its a matter of opinion. Mouldy as one of those disappointed has done the correct thing and made contact. The OP though has a "good source" then asks for someone to confirm it Is "good source the new FACT.
Or his good source is not that good if he needs it to be confirmed by another source.

the soup smelled like cheese when we arrived and it was pea and ham. the pork was the chefs speciality... pork bain marie (in other words boiled).

The food has been below par all season barring a couple of occasions, when it was a simple pie and roasties. We have said it for two seasons now. A dinner is not what people want at a football game, most would be happier with chilli con carne, curry or something simple like that. Its just the chef lacks imagination and probably has limited funds, yet a box costs in excess of £20k a season for 12 guests per game, almost £100 per guest.

Sounds like me everytime I have seen Mutley at an away match, we both communicate to eachother by grunting inter-spurts with a few "likes" and clinking of pints.

Well after reading the previous posts all i can say is that i was not in the boxes on sat, i was at the pub due to the very busy nature of the day, the lads who went to the game in the box booked it as a one off for the day they dont have an executive box on a permanant basis and certainly not thro the Millhouse, when they came back after the game not before, they had a few grumbles about this and that, but i think that was more down to the performance on the day when we probably expected a little bit more from the team, and i gather the food wasnt the best, but they were quite hammered and were all happly singing songs very loudly about 6.00pm and were still in there at 1.00am, safe to say they are all now about to get there season tickets for nxt yr , so all in all a bit disapointed but soon forgotten. Although the Millhouse has a distant relationship with the club , which is a shame, we are always on the side of supporting them in anyway we can, free season ticket give aways etc over last 4 yrs, plus the universally acclaimed season ticket video :) and we have just completed another video documentary with a group from portsmouth university about the club and supporters, and town which is due to be shown to us shortly, of course we cant and wont stop anybody discussing things at the pub after a game which is all part and parcel of the sport, and nobody ever agrees with each other anyway, and the differing opinions i hear about everything are quite funny when you havnt had a drink, by 6pm everyone looks at the nxt game and moves on, and i think that that is where it is best left, it wont do us any favours with the club if it thinks that the Millhouse have, or do instigate negative posts about the club on message boards, WE dont , have a happy closed season people, and just to add we are open for all the world cup games, so pop in if you can cheers

Could you explain to us a bit more of the moderators forum? How people are elected, who are they and what length of time they serve and if they are up for re-election. Just for reasons of transparency you understand.

I expect, like the moderators of any forum, they are put in place by the person who runs and pays for the board, and whose rules they try and enforce.

Bilcliff everyone knows why people are on it or not, its generally people who have the time or indeed want to do it. Pu you name forward if you want.

I would do it but I am too cool and not in this so called clique. I am however in the idiots clique of which I am founding member.

Thank you for the explanation it is much appreciated. I didn't realise it is basicslly run and owned by one person and in that case it is entirely his prerogative to run and moderate the board exactly how he pleases. It would have been nice if you could have stated this in your first reply instead of the silly bait comment which only makes you look foolish which you are obviously not. Take it from me I would never wish to be a moderator and believe in democracy and would never ban anyone apart from a libellous or racist remark. Anything else would come under the title of banter.

As has been said the board is largely financed by one individual, it's his board and he makes the rules and he appoints the admin and moderators on the forum. It isnt a democracy and nobody has ever claimed that it is. There is no election and there is no transparency- if anyone has a problem with that they can let us know and we will delete their account, and if they wish we can also delete their entire posting history.

If we think someone is making a 'lovely lovely person' of themselves we might issue them with a warning or a temporary ban of a few days, and this includes moderators themselves. If we feel it is merited we will very, very, rarely ban someone permanently and send them an explanation. If they dont like that explanation they can always start their own board, which is essentially how this one got started.

The board runs smoothly 99% of the time and there is rarely any of the abuse and dumb shit you see on other boards.
